    Itinerary
    FEB 28 (SAT) HONOLULU
    Leave Honolulu Int’l Airport via Japan Airlines flight. Lunch and a Snack will be served aboard the flight. FREE DRINKS and MOVIES.
    MAR 01(SUN) KANSAI/ KOBE NEW OTANI KOBE HARBORLAND
    Arrive at Kansai Int’l Airport and after clearing immigration and customs formalities, by bus to our hotel in Kobe City. Upon arrival, FREE TIME to meet your relatives, friends or just rest. Our hotel is located within easy walking distance to Mosaic Shopping Mall from where you can observe a superb night view of Kobe
    MAR 02(MON) DAISEN DAISEN ROYAL HOTEL/ONSEN
    Leave Kobe for Tottori by passing through Okayama Prefecture. We will visit Tottori Hanakaido Flower Park to see several kinds of flower blooming. The park stands in front of a grand scenic view of Mt. Daisen and its 123acre garden area consists of displays of flowers of the four seasons. Later go to our hotel located at the foot of the volcanic mountain Mt. Daisen with an altitude of 5,673 ft. You will get a chance to Soak and Relax in your first ONSEN HOT SPRING BATH AND ROTEN-BURO (Open-Air Bath) of this tour
    MAR 03(TUE) MATSUE MATSUE TOKYU INN
    Visit the Adachi Museum with its superb Japanese Gardens (52,000 square yards), which has been awarded as “One of the Best Gardens in Japan” for four successive years by “The Journal of Japanese Gardening (USA)”. Its collection of contemporary Japanese paintings of Yokoyama Taikan and many sculptures and ceramic arts are also a pleasure to see. Later visit Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine. This ancient shrine dates back 1,500 years and “it is believed that the gods from all over Japan gather together here every October”. Our hotel is located in front of Matsue Station
    MAR 04(WED) MATSUE MATSUE TOKYU INN
    Go to the symbol of Matsue, Matsue Castle nicknamed “Plover Castle” built in 1611. The castle is “one of 12 original structured castles left in Japan”. Next visit the Koizumi Yakumo (Lafcadio Hearn) House. Koizumi Yakumo was a Greek novelist who loved Matsue and became a Naturalized Japanese Citizen. Also see the Samurai House (Bukeyashiki), built in the middle of the Edo Period, 270 years ago. Then go to Matsue Vogel Park, a breathtaking showcase of a plethora of flowers such as Begonia and Fuchsia and birds including pelicans and owls. Then back to the hotel.
    MAR 05(THU) TOTTORI HOTEL NEW OTANI TOTTORI
    Proceed to Kotobukijo (Theme Park of Japanese Confectionary) and shop for local souvenirs. They carry many kinds of Manjyu and other kinds of local specialties. Go to Encho-En, a garden with beautiful Chinese Architecture to browse around and also see a Chinese Acrobatic Show. After enjoying a stroll through the park, head to the Tottori Sand Dunes. This is the “Largest Dune in Japan” stretching 6 miles long and 1.5 miles in width facing the Japan Sea. Our hotel is located in front of Tottori Station and next to a Department Store. After check-in, go Holo-Holo and enjoy shopping.
    MAR 06 (FRI) WEST KOBE KOBE SEISHIN ORIENTAL HOTEL
    Proceed to Amanohashidate, “One of the Three Most Beautiful Spots in Japan”. This is a 2-mile long sandbar lined with a thick grove of pine trees. Since ancient times, it has been called as “A Place of Incomparable Beauty” with white sand and green pine trees. Also visit Kasamatsu Park by cable car and enjoy the panoramic view from its summit. Try bending down with your back toward the lookout and looking at the view between your legs, and it is said that the view resembles a “Bridge to the Heavens”. Later proceed to our hotel in West Kobe, connected to a huge shopping complex with Daiei Supermarket right next-door and easy walking distance to Sogo Department Store, etc. You can enjoy shopping before and after dinner.
    MAR 07( SAT) NARA KASHIHARA ROYA LHOTEL-ONSEN
    Go to Akashi and enjoy walking underneath the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge, which is the “Worlds Longest Suspension Bridge (6,532 feet) and connects Awaji Island with Kobe. Then proceed to the Nada Area to visit the Hakutsuru Sake Museum. Nada is the “Largest Sake Producing Region in Japan”. Later head to Todaiji Temple in Nara a “World Heritage Site” to see Nara Daibutsu (155.3 ft. high). This is the “Largest Bronze Statue in the World” and is widely admired and worshipped as the “Great Buddha of Nara” and a “Symbol of the Ancient Capital of Japan”. Our hotel is located close to the station and has a ONSEN HOT SPRING BATH and OPEN AIR BATH (ROTEN-BURO).
    MAR 08(SUN) SHIRAHAMA HOTEL SEAMORE-ONSEN
    Visit the Danjiri Festival Museum in Kishiwada. The Danjiri Festival is considered to be one of the wildest and roughest festivals in Japan. We will watch a video with vigorous visual sound of this festival. It gives you the sensation of the Danjiri Festival, an ongoing tradition for 300 years. Then proceed to Shirahama via Minabe City that is known as the place producing the “Best Ume-boshi (Pickled Plums) in Japan”. Kishu Ume-boshi is the most popular of its kind. Upon arrival at Shirahama, a sister city of Honolulu, we will first see Engetsu-jima Island, an uninhabited rock isle with a round cave open in its middle. Later go to the Senjojiki Coast, where you will see a huge multi-tiered rock that looks like “A Thousand Tatami”, Sandanheki Cliffs (three-tiered wall), with 200 feet high precipitous rock walls and Heisogen Observatory, a refreshing park on the hill with a commanding view of Shirahama. Finally to our hotel, which faces the ocean and is a famous onsen hotel known for its “UMEDARU OUTDOOR HOT SPRING TUBS” with a beautiful view of the ocean.
    MAR 09 (MON) KATSUURA HOTEL URASHIMA-ONSEN
    Go to Shiono Misaki Cape at the southernmost tip of Honshu (Japan’s Main Island). Visit Shiono Misaki Tower to get a look at the beautiful scenery of the Pacific Ocean. Later cross the New Kushimoto Bridge to Oshima Island. If the timing is right, Camellia Flowers bloom during this season. We will drive along the Camellia Road. Next go to Hashikui Iwa Rocks, formed by 40 strangely shaped rocks, which resemble the supports of a bridge. Then, proceed to the “World’s Largest Whale Museum” in Taiji. A 50 ft. Bowhead Whale is suspended from the ceiling and about 1,000 precious materials regarding the life of whales and whaling are displayed. An Aquarium, Sea Otter Museum, Whale Hunting Boat Museum, etc. are located around the museum. Later proceed to our huge onsen hotel in Katsuura, where you can experience bathing in a “BIG CAVE HOT SPRING BATH”!
    MAR 10( TUE) ISE SHIMA HOTEL KINTETSU AQUAVILLA-ONSEN
    Head to Nachi-No-Taki Waterfall, a “World Heritage Site” with a “400 feet drop” the “Highest in Japan”. This is a great waterfall that plunges down from mystic mountains. Next proceed to Kumano to visit Onigajo (Demon Castle), a “Government Designated Natural Monument” characterized by the unique shapes of rock and cliff formations. Then head to Ise Shima National Park, which is a popular leisure resort area for its natural beauty. Our accommodation tonight is a seaside resort hotel in natural surroundings. Enjoy a “Natural ONSEN HOT SPRING BATH and ROTEN-BURO (OPEN AIR BATH).
    MAR 11 (WED) YOKKAICHI YOKKAICHI MIYAKO HOTEL
    Visit the Ise grand Shrine (Naiku), the “Largest and Most Revered Shrine in Japan”, developed about 1,300 years ago. Then to “Okage Yokocho”, which creates an atmosphere of the Edo Period and enjoy some shopping here. You can experience the flavor of Mie Prefecture’s old shops, regional specialties, history, customs and people. Enjoy shopping and lunch at the AEON Shopping Center on the way to the hotel. Our hotel is connected to a “Big Shopping Center” where you can enjoy shopping before leaving Japan. Your rooms are paid for, but meals (LUNCH and DINNER) will be “At Your Own Expense” to let you eat your favorite foods before returning home. We will give everyone a carton box to use for packing his or her gifts. (2 Pieces Per Person Baggage Allowance. Any excess will be paid for by the member).
    MAR 12( THU) NAGOYA/HONOLULU
    At checkout time, our agents will come around to tape and tie-up the boxes and take the baggage’s to be checked-in down. In the afternoon, proceed to Chubu (Centrair) Int’l Airport in Nagoya to catch Japan Airlines flight in the evening to Honolulu, arriving the same morning, MARCH 12, 2009 (THURSDAY). Clients remaining back will be assisted in obtaining train, plane and hotel reservations. Members may return to Honolulu individually, but no later than 3 months from day of departure.
