SEPT. 24(THU) HONOLULU
Leave Honolulu Int’l Airport via Japan Airlines flight. Lunch and a
Snack will be served aboard the flight. FREE MOVIES and DRINKS.
SEPT. 25(FRI) CHITOSE HOTEL NIKKO CHITOSE Arrive
at Narita Int’l Airport, and after entry formalities, transfer to your
connecting domestic flight to Chitose Int’l Airport in Hokkaido. Upon
arrival, go directly to your hotel located about 10 minutes from the
airport.
SEPT. 26(SAT) TOKACHI-MAKUBETSU GRANDVRIO HOTEL TOKACHI MAKUBETSU (ONSEN)
Visit Yuni Garden, one of the biggest British Style Gardens in Japan
(35 acres). Here, you will see many different kinds of flowers and
herbs in bloom during this season. Then proceed to our hotel in
Tokachi-Makubetsu Spa via beautiful Nissho Pass. Good chance to Soak
and Relax in the HOTSPRING BATH and ROTENBURO (Open Air Bath). This spa
has been popular as one of two hot spring resorts in the world that use
“plant mogul” hot spring water, good for beauty, and also neuralgia,
muscle pains and dermatitis. {A “Private Onsen Bath” is available “At
Your Own Expense”}.
SEPT. 27(SUN) LAKE KUSSHAROKO HOTEL LAKE WOOD KUSSHARO (ONSEN)
Proceed to beautiful Lake Akan to visit the Ainu Museum to see examples
of the nature and old culture in the Akan Area. After lunch proceed to
Mt. Io (Sulfur Mountain). This is a unique looking mountain with a rock
surface and steam still actively released from many parts of it. Then
visit the Taiho Sumo Museum. Taiho was the 48th Yokozuna in 1961, and
kept the rank of Yokozuna for 10 years with 32 Grand Championship wins.
Next go to Lake Kussharo, the largest caldera lake in Japan and see its
Sunayu (Sand Bath), before going to the hotel located on the lakeside
and surrounded by a forest. You will be able to enjoy walking around
the hotel in the morning. Good chance to Soak and Relax in the
HOTSPRING BATH and nice ROTENBURO (Open Air Bath).
SEPT. 28(MON) NEMURO EAST HARBOR HOTEL Visit
mystical Lake Mashu. The water of this lake is renowned worldwide for
its clarity, which is “one of the clearest in the world and changes
into seven different colors”. It is also a mystic lake that often hides
itself behind a veil of fog. Later visit Cape Nosappu, located on “the
Eastern Most Part of Japan,” and a spot from which you can see the
“Russian Held Island” of Habomai, up-close.
SEPT. 29(TUE) SHIRETOKO HOTEL SHIRETOKO (ONSEN)
Pass Odaito Lagoon on the way to see the Shibetsu Salmon Science Museum
containing more than 20 kinds of salmon from around the world. Then,
drive via beautiful Shiretoko Pass and visit the Shiretoko Nature
Center to see the “Beautiful 4 Seasons of Shiretoko” movie on a big
screen. Later go to the Shiretoko 5 Lakes, a great place to experience
Shiretoko’s unspoiled natural beauty with an easy walk. Enjoy a
leisurely walk in the primitive forest around the picturesque lakes.
Shiretoko was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List on July 14, 2005.
After the walk, proceed to the hotel. Another good chance to try the
Relaxing HOTSPRING BATH and ROTENBURO (Open-Air Bath)! Enjoy a “Big
Buffet Dinner” this night!
SEPT. 30(WED) MONBETSU MONBETSU PRINCE HOTEL (ONSEN)
Visit the scenic Oshin-Koshin Waterfall on the way to Abashiri City.
Oshin Koshin Waterfall was chosen as one of Japan’s best 100
waterfalls. The water from the falls drops magnificently towards the
Okhotsk Sea. Proceed to Abashiri Prison Museum, to learn about the
socio-political history of Japan. This prison was constructed in the
1890’s to hold one thousand notorious criminals. Buildings and
structures of the old prison and how the daily life of the prisoners
was like can be seen through relics and wax dolls of the prisoners,
etc. Later we will make a brief stop at Lake Notoro, where if the
timing is right, you may be able to see the “Crimson Coral Weed” as it
spreads out along the lakeside. Then go to our hotel in Monbetsu City.
Enjoy a “Zuwai Gani (Snow Crab) Shabu-Shabu Dinner” and see the Mochi
Tsuki (Mochi Pounding) performance after dinner. Enjoy another Warm and
Relaxing HOTSPRING BATH and ROTENBURO (Open Air Bath)!
OCT. 01(THU)) WAKKANAI WAKKANAI GRAND HOTEL (ONSEN)
Visit the Giza Ice Floe Museum to watch a short film about the four
seasons of this area, including the beautiful winter ice floe scenery.
Here you will be able to “actually touch and feel the drift ice from
the ice floe”. Proceed further north to visit Cape Soya, at the
northernmost tip of Japan, where from which on a clear day you can see
the “Russian Held Sakhalin Island”. Later proceed to Wakkanai, the
northernmost city in Japan. After arrival and check-in at the hotel,
walk to the big Saijo Department Store. Enjoy the Relaxing HOTSPRING
BATH! Also enjoy a “Delicious Sukiyaki Dinner” this evening!
OCT. 02(FRI)) REBUN ISLAND/WAKKANAI WAKKANAI GRAND HOTEL (ONSEN)
Early breakfast and a tight, but interesting schedule today. Go to
Wakkanai Pier to catch the ferry to the northernmost island in Japan,
“Rebun Island” which has been designated as Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu
National Park. On the way, if weather permits, you can see Mt. Rishiri,
also called Rishiri-Fuji, towering at the center of the island. Upon
arrival, take a short excursion of Rebun Island. Rebun Island is long
and narrow from north to south and nearly all hills. You will be able
to experience the beautiful natural scenery of Rebun and also enjoy
viewing nearby Rishiri by taking a pleasant and leisurely walk. After
we are done sightseeing, return to Wakkanai City. Last chance to
freshen up and try the Relaxing and Refreshing HOTSPRING BATH!
OCT. 03(SAT) ASAHIKAWA ASAHIKAWA TERMINAL HOTEL In
the morning, visit “Maruzen Marine Gift” for some shopping. This big
shopping place carries local seafood and dried seafood. Next go to
Sarobetsu Natural Flower Garden the large, northernmost marshlands in
Japan, where one can look across the seemingly endless plain and see
the line of the horizon to the north. Later proceed to the 2nd largest
city in Hokkaido, Asahikawa, and along the way, visit the Otokoyama
Sake Brewery, which makes the “Best Sake in Hokkaido”. Learn about its
history and “Taste Fresh Sake”! The hotel is located next to Asahikawa
Station and Seibu Department Store and also Heiwa-dori Shopping Mall.
OCT. 04(SUN) SAPPORO SAPPORO CENTURY ROYAL HOTELOCT. 03(SAT) ASAHIKAWA ASAHIKAWA TERMINAL HOTEL
Visit Maruka Plateau to see the “Cosmos Flower”. “If the Timing is
Right,” we will be able to see “vast fields of Cosmos Flowers”. Then we
will be stopping at the Sunagawa Highway Oasis Drive Inn where you can
purchase the famous “Pumpkin Seed Cookies” and other local specialties.
Later, along the way to Sapporo, we will be doing some “Apple Picking”!
Proceed to Sapporo City and drive pass the famous Clock Tower and Odori
Park, before going to the hotel. Our hotel is connected to the
underground shopping arcade and close to some department stores, where
you can enjoy yourself and “Holo-Holo” before dinner
OCT. 05(MON) SAPPORO SAPPORO CENTURY ROYAL HOTEL
Visit the Okurayama Ski Jump Site used for ski jumping during the
Winter Olympic Games in 1972. Then visit the Chuo Markets to buy dried
seafood, etc. for “Omiyage” before returning to the hotel. Upon
arrival, FREE TIME TO FINISH SHOPPING, PACKING ETC. Your room is paid
for but meals (LUNCH/DINNER) will be at your own expense to let you eat
your favorite foods before returning home. We will give everyone a
carton box to use for packing their gifts. (2 Pieces Per Person Baggage
Allowance. Any excess will be paid for by the member). Visit Maruka

OCT. 06(TUE) HONOLULU (BREAKFAST Is Included This Day / LUNCH On Your Own / DINNER On The Plane)
At check-out time, our agents will come around to tape and tie-up the
boxes and take the baggage’s to be checked-in down. In the afternoon,
proceed to Chitose Int’l Airport to catch Japan Airlines flight in the
evening to Honolulu via Narita Int’l Airport, arriving the same
morning, OCTOBER 06, 2009 (TUESDAY). After clearing U.S. Customs,

will be assisted in obtaining train, plane and hotel reservations.
Members may return to Honolulu individually but no later than 3 months
