OCT. 02 (FRI) HONOLULU
Leave Honolulu International Airport via Japan Airlines flight. Lunch
and a snack will be served aboard the flight. FREE MOVIES and DRINKS
OCT. 03 (SAT) TOKYO CROWNE PLAZA METROPOLITAN HOTEL
Arrive at Narita International Airport, and after government
formalities, go directly to the hotel in Ikebukuro, Tokyo by bus. After
hotel check-in, FREE TIME to meet your relatives, friends or go walking
in the Ikebukuro Shopping District.
OCT. 04 (SUN) LAKE SUWA RAKO HANANOI HOTEL (ONSEN) ¢Í
Proceed to Katsunuma, the largest producer of grapes in Japan, to enjoy
¡°Grape Picking¡±. Then visit beautiful Shosenkyo Gorge to enjoy the
beauty of the enormous fantastically shaped rocks and swift fresh water
currents. Our hotel is located in Kamisuwa Spa near Lake Suwa. Good
chance to try the Relaxing HOT SPRING BATH and ROTEN-BURO (OPEN-AIR
BATH)! {A Private Onsen Bath (Kazoku-buro)(Only 1 Room) is available
(At Your Own Expense)}.
OCT. 05 (MON) HINATAYAMA HEIGHTS KUROYON ROYAL HOTEL (ONSEN) ¢Í
In the morning go to Shiojiri Town to enjoy ¡°Apple Picking¡±, and
taste the ¡°juicy and sweet Nagano apple in season¡±. Then proceed to
the old castle town Matsumoto City, and visit Matsumoto Castle,
designated as a National Treasure. This is one of the most complete and
beautiful among Japan¡¯s original castles. The moats and stonewalls are
the remnants of the original structure built in 1504. Corridors connect
the imposing six-story donjon, designated as a National Treasure, with
a small keep on the northern side. Later visit Daio Wasabi Farm
(horse-radish farm), the biggest Wasabida (horse-radish field) in Japan
to see the Wasabi Farm and enjoy shopping for Wasabi products. Proceed
to our hotel located at the foot of the Northern Japan Alps. This hotel
is a popular Alpine Resort Hotel surrounded by nature. Relax and
Refresh in the HOT SPRING BATH and ROTEN-BURO (OPEN-AIR BATH)!
OCT. 06 (TUE) TOYAMA TOYAMA EXCEL HOTEL TOKYU By
bus to Ogisawa for a whole day sightseeing trip to view the ¡°Tateyama
Kurobe Alpine Route.¡± This is a journey through glorious alpine
scenery. One can enjoy a superb view of 9,045 ft.-high mountains from
the convenience of a cable car, bus, ropeway and trolley bus. First
take the trolley bus from Ogisawa to Kuroyon Dam. Walk across the top
class arch-style dam to Kurobe Station to catch the under-mountain
cable car to Kurobedaira and take the ropeway to Daikanbo to enjoy
seeing a panoramic view of the Japan Alps. Board the tunnel bus for
Murodo Plateau, overlooking the Ushiro Tateyama Mountain. Then down to
Tateyama via Midagahara and proceed to the hotel in Toyama City located
near Toyama Station and connected to a department store with a 100 Yen
Shop.
OCT. 07 (WED) KANAZAWA ANA CROWNE PLAZA KANAZAWA
Proceed to Wajima to visit its famous Asaichi (morning open market)
with about 200 stalls lining the main street. The markets offer various
products like folk crafts but primarily fresh seafood landed daily at
Wajima Port, including delicious ¡°smoked abalone¡±. Also see Wajima¡¯s
traditional industry, beautiful Lacquer Ware Products. Wajima-Nuri
Lacquer Ware is said to have begun a thousand years ago, and designated
as a ¡°National Intangible Cultural Property¡±. Then enjoy driving
along the Chirihama Nagisa Drive Way. This beach forms a 5 miles-long
natural driveway of packed, fine sand. Enjoy driving along the seashore
on the ¡°sand roadway¡±. Our hotel is located close to Kanazawa Station
and a Big Shopping Area.
OCT. 08 (THU) KYOTO KYOTO SHIN HANKYU HOTEL In
the morning, visit the main attraction in Kanazawa, beautiful
¡°Kenrokuen Park¡±, one of Japan¡¯s three most beautiful landscaped
gardens and designated as a ¡°National Special Place of Scenic
Beauty¡±. Kenrokuen means ¡°Combining Six Features,¡± indicating that
the park has six prominent features: Vastness, Solemnity, Careful
Arrangement, Venerability, Coolness and Scenic Charm. It has the
typical features of a large treed garden landscaped in the go-around
style. Later proceed to Kyoto, the most historical city in Japan
attracting a large number of tourists from all over the world. Visit
the Higashi Honganji Temple with its main hall, which is Kyoto¡¯s
largest wooden structure. Our hotel is located in front of Kyoto
Station with its Underground Shopping Mall, where you will have a
chance to walk around and shop before diner.
OCT. 09 (FRI) KYOTO KYOTO SHIN HANKYU HOTEL All
Day Kyoto City Tour. Visit the colorful Heian Shrine, built for the
occasion of the 1,100th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Heian
Capital. See its exquisitely landscaped strolling garden ¡°the Shin-en
Garden¡±, built in 1895 and dedicated to Emperor Kammu, founder of
Kyoto, and Last Emperor Komei. Later visit the Kyoto Handicraft Center,
which has a variety of Kyoto¡¯s souvenir items for shopping and lunch.
Then proceed to Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion), Kyoto¡¯s symbolic
temple and a ¡°World Heritage Site¡±. The Muromachi Government, the 3rd
Shogun Yoshimitsu Ashikaga, built the original building in 1397 but the
building was burned in 1950 and rebuilt in 1955. The main pavilion is
covered with gold leaf and situated picturesquely in its garden. Also
visit the Nishijin Textile Museum to enjoy seeing the Kimono Show and
do some shopping.
OCT. 10 (SAT) WEST KOBE KOBE SEISHIN ORIENTAL HOTEL
Proceed to Kobe, a port city known as a city having a unique style with
an exotic atmosphere in Japan, which has been affected by the foreign
cultures and flourished as an international port since olden days.
Visit the Nada Sake Brewery. Nada is ¡°one of the biggest sake
producing areas in Japan¡±. Enjoy the fine taste of the famous Nada
Sake and see a short movie in English. Then enjoy a ¡°Kobe Bay Cruise¡±
and see the beautiful scenery of the Port Tower, Mt. Rokko, Akashi
Bridge, the Dock Area, etc. from the ocean side. Later proceed to our
hotel in West Kobe, and connected to a huge shopping complex. It is
located next door to Daiei Supermarket and easy walking distance to
Sogo Department Store, etc. Enjoy shopping before and after the ¡°Big
Buffet Dinner¡±!
OCT. 11 (SUN) OKAYAMA HOTEL GRANVIA OKAYAMA
Proceed to Osafune Town, which thrived as ¡°The Land of Sword Smiths¡±
from the Kamakura Period (12th century). Visit the Japanese Sword
Museum, which exhibits dozens of historical samurai swords. Then, go to
Okayama City to visit Okayama Korakuen Park, another one of the three
most beautiful landscaped gardens in Japan. The garden has a tea
ceremony house, several ponds, a small waterfall and elegantly designed
landscapes. Your hotel is located next to Okayama Station and near
Takashimaya Department Store and the Underground Shopping Mall where
you can enjoy shopping before and after dinner.
OCT. 12 (MON) HIROSHIMA HOTEL GRANVIA HIROSHIMA
Proceed to Hiroshima, the first city to suffer from the Atomic Bomb.
See the Atomic Bomb Dome (Ruins of the Industry Promotion Hall), which
was majestic and beautiful before the blast, and is the only Atomic
Bombed building remaining in the city. Visit the Peace Memorial Park,
containing a modern-style Peace Memorial Hall, Peace Memorial Museum,
International Conference Center, Hiroshima Memorial Cenotaph for
Victims of the Atomic Bomb and many other memorial monuments. The Peace
Memorial Museum contains displays showing the history of Hiroshima
before and after the bombing. Later, go to our hotel connected to
Hiroshima Station and easy walking distance to the Underground Shopping
Mall and Department Stores. You will be able to enjoy shopping this
night also.
OCT. 13 (TUE) KOKURA RIHGA ROYAL HOTEL KOKURA
Catch the Shinkansen (Bullet Train), with speeds up to 135 MPH to Shin
Shimonoseki Station. Upon arrival, by bus to Shimonoseki Fish Market,
known for certain specialties, including Balloon Fish (Fugu). Enjoy
shopping for dried seafood if you wish to. Later, head to Kokura in
Kitakyushu. Our hotel is located next to the train station and easy
walking distance to the shopping mall and department store. After hotel
check-in, FREE TIME TO FINISH SHOPPING, PACKING, ETC.. Your rooms are
paid for but meals (LUNCH/DINNER) will be at your own expense to let
you eat your favorite foods before returning home. We will give
everyone a carton box to use for packing their gifts. (2 Pieces Per
Person Baggage Allowance. Any excess will be paid for by the member).
OCT. 14 (WED) HONOLULU {ONLY BREAKFAST IS INCLUDED THIS DAY}
At check-out time our agents will come around to tape and tie-up the
boxes and take the baggage¡¯s to be checked-in down. Before 12:00PM
(Noon), we will proceed to Fukuoka Airport to catch a Japan Airlines
flight to Nagoya or Kansai Airport (Osaka), then, catch a Japan
Airlines connecting flight in the evening to Honolulu, arriving the
same morning, OCTOBER 14, 2009 (WEDNESDAY). After clearing U.S. Customs
proceed home. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR JOINING OUR TOHOKU TRAVEL¡¯S

in obtaining train, plane and hotel reservations. Members may return to
Honolulu individually but no later than 3 months from day of departure.
