SPRING KYUSHU & SHIKOKU TOUR

MAR. 1 (TUE) HONOLULU
Leave Honolulu Int’l Airport via Japan Airlines flight. Lunch and a Snack will be served aboard the flight. FREE MOVIES AND DRINKS.

MAR. 2 (WED) HAKATA (FUKUOKA) HAKATA EXCEL HOTEL TOKYU
Arrive at Nagoya, Narita or Kansai Int’l Airport. After clearance of government formalities, transfer to a domestic connecting flight to Fukuoka Airport. After arrival in Fukuoka by bus to the hotel in Hakata the biggest city in Kyushu. Hotel is located near the down town Nakatsu Area, good for shopping and eating.

MAR. 3 (THU) HAKATA (FUKUOKA) HAKATA EXCEL HOTEL TOKYU
Proceed to Saga Prefecture. Visit a Yokan (a thick jellied dessert made of red bean paste) Shop where you can sample Yokan and view a small museum displaying old equipment that was used to make Yokan. Then go to Ushio Bairin (Ume Forest), which has been known as, “The Best Ume Flower Viewing Place” with 13,000 Ume Trees lining the area since the end of the Edo Period. Annually Ume Blossoms bloom around this time of the season. Later go to Karatsu Castle which faces Karatsu Bay. By going to the top of the rebuilt donjon of the castle, you can get a superb view of Genkainada Bay and Niji no Matsubara. Niji no Matsubara (Pine Tree Forest), is the most picturesque landscape in Saga with 1,000,000 Black Pine Trees lining the coast line. Then back to our hotel. After dinner we will take those who wish to, to Fukuoka Tower to see the beautiful “Night View of Fukuoka City”.

MAR. 4 (FRI) KUMAMOTO HOTEL NIKKO KUMAMOTO
Visit Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, the first and most important of several hundred shrines dedicated to Sugawara Michizane as the “God of Scholarship”. The shrine will be filled with “Ume Blossoms” around this time of season (depending on the climate). Then go to Yanagawa where the Sagemon Hina Doll Festival is being held. Enjoy strolling around the old castle town filled with beautiful Hina Dolls all over. Later proceed to Suizenji Park, a spacious, Japanese Style Landscaped Garden which features a crystal clear pond and pine trees. Enjoy strolling along a circular path where one can enjoy the changing scenery. Later head back to our hotel located close to the department store and shopping mall.

MAR. 5 (SAT) AOSHIMA AOSHIMA PALM BEACH HOTEL (ONSEN) ♨
Visit Kumamoto Castle, called “One to the Three Greatest Castles in Japan”. Some scenes of TV Drama “Tenchi-jin” were filmed at this castle. The Honmaru Goten (the Lord Palace) was completed and opened to the public in 2008. You will see the gorgeous room with fancy painted screens and a fully lacquered and gold adorned roof. Next make a stop at the AEON Shopping Center for shopping before heading to Miyazaki, in the South Eastern corner of Kyushu consisting of a volcanic area and coast line facing the Pacific Ocean. Our hotel is a popular resort hotel overlooking the ocean. Soak and Relax in the Onsen Hot Spring and Roten Buro (Open Air Bath) with beautiful ocean scenery.

MAR. 6 (SUN) NOBEOKA HOTEL MERIGE NOBEOKA
Drive through Horikiri Pass, “One of the Best Observation Roads” with a commanding view of the grandeur of the Hyuga-nada Sea. There are 8,000 Cherry Trees planted along the road. We will enjoy the early-blooming Cherry Blossoms (If timing is right). Next visit Aoshima Island, a tiny island connected with the mainland by a 985 ft. bridge with wavy rock formations called “Oni-no-Sentakuita” (the Ogre’s Washboard). Draw striped patterns which show-up at low tide and designated as a “National Special Natural Monument. Later proceed to Hyuga City facing the beautiful Hyuga-nada Sea. Visit Hyuga Cape with its many exposed rocks designated as the “Nippo-Kaigan Quasi-National Park”. Umagase at the tip of the cape is a precipitous cliff of pillar-like rocks, towering as high as 230 feet, and commands an excellent view of the waves breaking against the rocks.

MAR. 7 (MON) BEPPU BEPPU SUGINOI HOTEL (ONSEN) ♨
Proceed to the Beppu, known as the “Onsen (hot spring) Capital of Japan” in a number of sources and has a number of chemical properties. Visit Beppu Jigoku (Hell of Boiling Spring). Spectacular hot springs, that are, for viewing rather than for bathing. We will enjoy Jigoku Meguri (Hell Tour)! Visit Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell) features a pond of hot (208F), cobalt blue water. Its bottomless cobalt blue is really beautiful like an Ocean. Bozu Jigoku (Monk Hell) is named after the mud bubbles, which emerge from boiling mud pools and look like the shaven heads of monks. Yama Jigoku (Mountain Hell) features ponds of steaming hot water and a small zoo with Hippopotamus, flamingoes, etc. Chinoike Jigoku (Blood Pond Hell) features a pond of hot, blood red water. This awesome pond takes its formidable color from red clay that dissolves in the natural, boiling waters. Oniyama Jigoku (Monster Mountain Hell) Crocodiles are bred and kept on the grounds with warm breeding waters. Kamado Jigoku (Cooking Pot Hell) features several boiling ponds and a flashy demon statue as cook. This night accommodation is a “Huge Onsen Hotel” located on top of the hill over-looking Beppu Bay. Enjoy the Huge Hot Spring Bath and Roten Buro and a “Big Buffet Dinner”.

MAR. 8 (TUE) IMABARI IMABARI KOKUSAI HOTEL (ONSEN)♨
In the morning, catch a Ferry (2 hours 45 minutes) from Beppu Port to Shikoku Island, smallest of Japan’s four principle islands. It abounds in places of great tourist interest. Upan arrival at Yahatahama Port, head to the capital city of Ehime, Matsuyama to visit Ichiroku Honpo, a well known brand of “Tart” (Role Cake with Rich “Anko” inside) representing Shikoku’s Omiyage. You can try a sample also. Then go to Imabari where our accommodation is located. Our hotel is a nice city hotel with an Onsen Roten Buro (Open Air Bath with Hot Spring Water).

MAR. 9 (WED) KOCHI KOCHI NEW HANKYU HOTEL
Imabari is the #1 producer of towels in Japan (Nearly 60%). Go to the Towel Museum to see the process of making towels and a display of many types of towels with unique designs. You can also purchase the many different types of Japanese Towels. Then to Niihama to visit Besshi Copper Mine which actually had been operating from 1691 to 1973. We will ride on a miner train and walk inside an actual mine with dolls of miners showing how hard the work used to be. Then go to Kochi, a town situated at the foot of Kochi Castle, built in the 17th century. Upon arrival at the hotel, enjoy “Holo-Holo” near the hotel. Our hotel is located close to Hirome Market, a big and bustling food mall. A variety of foods are available including local specialties such as Katsuo (Skip Jack), Saba Sushi, Local Sake, etc.

MAR. 10 (THU) TAKAMATSU ANA HOTEL CLEMENT TAKAMATSU
Sakamoto Ryoma History Museum, consisting of 26 scenes with 180 realistic wax dolls, about the “Life of Sakamoto Ryoma”. The TV Drama “Ryoma-den” is a story that focuses on the life of Sakamoto Ryoma who was “A Hero in Japanese History”. We will also visit Katsurahama Beach with a Statue of Sakamoto Ryoma. Later visit Ritsurin Park, which is skillfully laid out to harmonize with the magnificent pine trees. Each step you take reveals a new view of the different tasteful aspects of the garden exquisitely arranged. There will be Ume Blossoms and Azalea blooming in the park (if the timing is right). Our hotel is located close to Takamatsu Station and Shopping Places.

MAR. 11 (FRI) KOBE KOBE BAY SHERATON HOTEL & TOWERS
Cross the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge the “Longest Suspension Bridge in the World” (6,532 ft.) to Awaji Island in the Eastern part of the Seto Inland Sea between the islands of Honshu and Shikoku. We will go to the Joruri Theater to see the “Joruri Puppet Show” and another theater in the same building to see a dynamic 3-D Movie of the “Uzushio” (Whirlpool). The ocean current here is so complicated that the tide creates whirl currents. Then go to the Awaji Monkey Center. There are “180 wild monkeys” (Nihon Zaru) fed by the staff here. You can try feeding the monkeys in the cage if you wish to. Then go to the Port Town, Kobe. Our hotel is located in the center of Rokko Island and close to the Shopping Center, 100 Yen Shop, etc.

MAR. 12 (SAT) KOBE KOBE BAY SHERATON HOTEL & TOWERS

Go to Kobe Kacho-en with its fabulous Begonia and lovely birds etc. You can enjoy feeding the birds in the caged area also. Later return the hotel and UPON ARRIVAL, FREE TIME TO FINISHING SHOPPING, PACKING, ETC. Your rooms are paid for, but meals (LUNCH / DINNER) will be at your own expense to let you eat your favorite foods before returning home. We will give everyone a carton box to use for packing his or her gifts. (2 Pieces Per Person Baggage Allowance. The member will pay for any excess).

MAR. 13 (SUN) HONOLULU {ONLY BREAKFAST IS INCLUDED THIS DAY / LUNCH ON YOUR OWN / DINNER ON THE PLANE}
At check-out time, our agents will come around to tape and tie-up the boxes and take the baggage’s to be checked-in down. Later proceed to Kansai (Osaka) Int’l Airport to catch a Japan Airlines flight in the evening to Honolulu, arriving the same morning,

TOUR CONDITIONS


AIR TRANSPORTATION: Airfare is based on VALUE FARE.

Minimum stay is 3-Days and maximum stay is 3 Months. $225.00 Cancellation Fee.

INCLUDES: All transportation included in the itinerary, all hotel accommodations, meals and all sightseeing listed, all transfer of passenger and baggage, souvenir picture and tour tax. Roundtrip air transportation by Economy Jet.

DOES NOT INCLUDE: Individual expenses after termination of tour as stated in itinerary. Also, wine, liquor, mineral water, laundry and other items of personal nature, cost of obtaining passport and visa or other necessary documents.

BAGGAGE: Limited to (2) pieces and (1) hand-carry.

RESPONSIBILITY: The tour organizer or any travel agencies involved, act only as agents for the passengers in regards to travel, sightseeing, hotel and meal arrangements, and other tour services. The organizer/agency will accept no responsibility or liability in respect of either person or property for any loss, damage, injury, accident, delay or irregularity, however, occasioned, sustained, or suffered in or during any journey, trip, or tour, or in carrying out of any arrangements booked by or through it.

If the agency becomes aware that a passenger has a special chronic health problem, the agency shall ensure that it is provided with a letter from the passenger’s personal physician stating the nature of such health problem and certifying that the passenger is physically fit to participate in the tour. Also, in our endeavor to ensure congenial membership, we reserve the right to refuse the application of anyone and / or to expel from the tour, members whose conduct is incompatible with the interests of the tour. Further, we reserve the right to refuse the application of any handicapped passenger if it is determined that such passenger would impede the schedule of the tour and greatly inconvenience the majority of tour members. However, if a handicapped passenger accepted for the tour requires any form of special assistance, he/she must be accompanied by a qualified helper who takes total responsibility for the handicapped passenger’s well being.

Baggage’s are at owner’s own risk. The right is reserved to make any necessary changes in tour if deemed advisable. Also, the airlines and other transportation companies concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission, or event during the time passengers are not on board their carriers concerned. The airline ticket and passage contract in use by the airlines concerned when issued shall constitute the sole contract between the airlines and purchaser of the tour and/or passenger. WATER: Is safe to drink throughout Japan.

TRAVEL ETIQUETTE: No one likes to be known as the last to arrive. When traveling in a group it is very important that everyone be punctual. Please remember, also, NO SMOKING AND TO ROTATE SEATS ON BUSES.

Everyone likes to sit by the window and front seats.

FOOD REQUEST: If you cannot eat certain foods, please do not forget to turn in your request form, 1 week before departure or earlier, so we may try to comply with your request.

TOUR CONDITIONS REMINDER

The COST OF TOUR includes ground tour and airfare. The ground tour is based on ¥95 Yens to a U.S. DOLLAR RATE. In case of any re-valuation, the price shall be adjusted accordingly at time of payment. See Yen Chart. The airfares are present rates and should the airfares be changed, adjustments will be made accordingly. The YEN RATE OF THE DAY will be used at time of payment. THANK YOU!

SHOULD YOU ARRIVE AFTER THE TOUR GROUP’S ARRIVAL TIME, YOU MUST FIND YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION TO THE HOTEL. SAME GOES FOR DEPARTURES FROM JAPAN. IF YOUR FLIGHT LEAVES EARLIER THAN THE TOUR GROUP, YOU MUST FIND YOUR OWN WAY TO THE AIRPORT. THE TOUR AIRFARE PORTION WILL BE SUBTRACTED FROM THE TOUR PACKAGE COST. THANK YOU!
