SEP. 3(SAT) HONOLULU
Leave Honolulu Int’l Airport via Japan Airlines flight.  Lunch and a Snack will be served aboard the flight.  FREE MOVIES and DRINKS.

SEP. 4(SUN) YOKOHAMA YOKOHAMA BAY SHERATON HOTEL & TOWERS
Arrive at Narita Int’l Airport and after clearing government formalities, go directly by bus to the hotel in Yokohama, 2nd biggest city in Japan.  After hotel check-in, FREE TIME to meet your relatives, friends or just rest.  Our hotel is located within easy walking distance to the Department Stores, Big Electric Shop, 100 Yen Shop and Underground Shopping Mall.

SEP. 5(MON) ONUMA HAKODATE ONUMA PRINCE HOTEL (ONSEN) ♨
In the morning, visit the Kawasaki Daishi Temple with its Nakamise Shopping Alley. This temple was established about 870 years ago.  It is known as one of the top three most popular temples in the country for “Traditional New Year’s Visits”.  Then head to Haneda Airport to catch a domestic flight to Hakodate in Southern Hokkaido.  Upon arrival, by bus to Onuma National Park, a scenic area containing magnificent Mt. Komagatake and beautiful swamps.  Enjoy strolling at this scenic location representing Hokkaido’s beautiful views. We will stay at a resort hotel located in a national park surrounded by a beautiful virgin forest of white birches and oaks.  Enjoy your first HOT SPRING BATH and OPEN AIR BATH of this tour! 

SEP. 6(TUE) ONUMA HAKODATE ONUMA PRINCE HOTEL (ONSEN) ♨
Visit the famous Hakodate Morning Market to buy dried seafood etc. Then head to Fukushima Town to visit the Sumo Museum, which commemorates Two Great Yokozuna Sumo Wrestlers, “Chiyonofuji” & “Chiyonoyama”.  Chiyonofuji is considered to be “the most successful sumo wrestler of all time and won no fewer than 31Top Division Titles”.  Also visit the Seikan Undersea Tunnel Museum, detailing the history and function of the Seikan Undersea Tunnel that connects Japan’s main island of Honshu and Hokkaido.  Then go back to the hotel to Soak and Relax in the HOT SPRING BATH and OPEN AIR BATH!

SEP. 7(WED) SHIRAKAMI NAQUA SHIRAKAMI HOTEL & RESORT (ONSEN) ♨
Proceed to Hakodate Station to catch the express Train to cross to Aomori via the Seikan Undersea Tunnel.  This 33.5 miles long tunnel is the “Second Longest Undersea Tunnel in the World”.  Upon arrival at Aomori Station, go by bus to Goshogawara to visit the Tachi Neputa Museum.  The Tachi Neputa Festival is a famous summer festival with extremely large floats that are carried around in a parade. You can see the actual 72 ft high festival floats in the museum.  Then go to our resort hotel located in the highland overlooking Mt. Iwaki and the Japan Sea.  Soak and Relax in the HOT SPRING BATH and OPEN AIR BATH with a beautiful scenery of nature.

SEP. 8(THU) AOMORI AOMORI ROYAL HOTEL (ONSEN) ♨
In the morning, enjoy “Apple-Picking”, which is in season.  Aomori is “one of the prime apple growing regions in Japan”.   Then go to visit the Shirakami Mountains Visitor Center, a “World Heritage Site”, where “information pertaining to the forest or beech trees, its fauna and flora, etc. is introduced through panels and videos”.  We will see the movie about the “Charms of the Shirakami Mountains” on a huge screen.  Next go to Inakadate to see “Rice Paddy Art” appearing on the CBS News.  The huge pictures appearing in the rice paddies are created by carefully planting different varieties of rice.   September is not the best viewing time since the Green Leafed Rice turns to Yellow.  But still this “Huge Art” can be enjoyed.  Later proceed to Owani Hot Spring with over 800 years history.  We will stay at an Onsen Resort Hotel located on top of the mountain where you can view the Tsugaru Plain.  Enjoy the HOT SPRING BATH and OPEN AIR BATH.

SEP. 9(FRI) OUSYUKU HOTEL MORINOKAZE OUSYUKU (ONSEN) ♨
Visit the Korakukan Old Theater, the “oldest extant wooden theater in Japan”.  Built for the entertainment of mine employees in 1910, it is a small theater in which Meiji Era Traditions are preserved and it has become a “Symbol of Culture and the Arts”.  Then head to the Hachimantai High Land.  We will enjoy driving the Hachimantai Aspite Line which runs through the Towada Hachimantai National Park while viewing the beautiful scenery.  It is said to be “one of the best roads in Japan for a scenic drive”.  You will see Mt. Iwate (6,686 ft), a symbolic mountain, on the way.  We will stay at a popular Onsen Resort Hotel.  After dinner, you can enjoy a “show and event” in the hotel lobby.  Soak and Relax in the HOT SPRING BATH and OPEN AIR BATH where you can see Mt. Iwate on a clear day.  

SEP. 10(SAT) AKITA HOTEL METROPOLITAN AKITA
Head to Kakunodate Old Samurai Town.  The town’s appearance is similar to that of Kyoto and is called “Little Kyoto”.  Enjoy browsing around the old town that remains remarkably unchanged since its founding in 1620.  We will visit the Samurai House which is a great example showing the “Bukeyashiki Style” to the modern days.  Then proceed to the AEON Shopping Mall to enjoy shopping before going to the hotel.  Our hotel is connected to Akita Station and its Shopping Area.  After hotel check-in, good chance to enjoy shopping at the 100 Yen Shop etc.       

SEP. 11(SUN) TSURUOKA TOKYO DAI-ICHI HOTEL TSURUOKA (ONSEN)
In the morning go to the Marugoto Market carrying local specialties of Akita such as Sake, Rice Cracker, Udon Noodle etc.  Next proceed to Herb World, where flowers are blooming all year round.  Then enjoy driving on the Obako Okesa Scenic Road to an old castle town, Tsuruoka.  You can see the Japan Sea and rugged shore line along the way.  We will stay at an onsen hotel connected to a Shopping Mall where you can enjoy a Hot Spring Bath as well as Shopping at the 100 Yen Shop, etc.  Soak and Relax in the OPEN AIR HOT SPRING BATH and JACUZZI to soak away your weariness.

SEP. 12(MON) ZAO TAKAMIYA RURIKURA RESORT (ONSEN) ♨
Visit the Shonai Movie Village, shooting location for a number of recent samurai movies and television dramas.  It now attracts people who are interested in the location of the 2009 Oscar Winner “Departures”.  You will see the huge open air set of “Tsuru no Yu”.  You might remember that it was shot at a public bath.  Next proceed to Yamagata, to enjoy either Pear or Grape Picking (depends on the temperature of the year).  Then to Mt. Zao.  Out hotel is a Western Style Onsen Hotel where you can Soak and Relax in a sulfur HOT SPRING BATH.

SEP. 13(TUE) IIZAKA HOTEL JYURAKU (ONSEN) ♨
Go to Kawanishi Dahlia Park where Dahlias bloom annually this time of the season.  This park opened as the “First Dahlia Park in Japan” and is also the largest.  Then head to Yonezawa which became popular as the region associated with the former TV Drama “Tenchijin”.  Visit Uesugi Shrine, devoted to Uesugi Kenshin, a famous commander during the “Period of Warring States” (1493-1573). The famous “Love” Helmet of Naoe Kanetsugu is exhibited at the Museum here.  Then proceed to Iizaka, “One of the Best Three Onsen in the Tohoku Region”.  Our hotel is located at the river side famous for its’ “Big Buffet Dinner”.  Enjoy Your Last HOT SPRING BATH and OPEN AIR BATH.        

SEP. 14(WED) IKEBUKURO  HOTEL METROPOLITAN

On the way to the hotel we will stop at the AEON Shopping Center for shopping and lunch.  Then head to our hotel in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.  Our hotel is located within easy walking distance to the Ikebukuro Shopping District.  After hotel check in, “FREE TIME” TO FINISH SHOPPING, PACCKING, ETC.  Your rooms are paid for, but meals (LUNCH/DINNER) will be At Your Own Expense to let you eat your favorite dishes before returning home.  We will give everyone a carton box to use for packing their gifts.  (2 Pieces Per Person Baggage Allowance.  The member will pay for any excess).

SEPT. 15(THU) HONOLULU             {ONLY BREAKFAST IS INCLUDED THIS DAY}
At check-out time our agents will come around to tape and tie-up the boxes and take the baggage’s to be checked-in down.  In the afternoon, proceed to Narita Int’l Airport to catch a flight in the evening to Honolulu, arriving the same morning, SEPTEMBER 15, 2011 (THURSDAY).  After clearing U.S. Customs proceed home.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR JOINING OUR 2011 TOHOKU TRAVEL’S AUTUMN HOKKAIDO & TOHOKU “BOCHA-BOCHA” TOUR #14A!  Clients remaining back will be assisted in obtaining train, plane and hotel reservations.  Members may return to Honolulu individually, but no later than 3 months from day of departure.   Weekend returns will cost more per person.

TOUR CONDITIONS

AIR TRANSPORTATION:  Airfare is based on VALUE FARE.

Minimum stay is 3-Days and maximum stay is 3 Months.  $225.00 Cancellation Fee.

INCLUDES:  All transportation included in the itinerary, all hotel accommodations, meals and all sightseeing listed, all transfer of passenger and baggage, souvenir picture and tour tax.  Roundtrip air transportation by Economy Jet.

DOES NOT INCLUDE:  Individual expenses after termination of tour as stated in itinerary.  Also, wine, liquor, mineral water, laundry and other items of personal nature, cost of obtaining passport and visa or other necessary documents.

BAGGAGE:  Limited to (2) pieces and (1) hand-carry.

RESPONSIBILITY:  The tour organizer or any travel agencies involved, act only as agents for the passengers in regards to travel, sightseeing, hotel and meal arrangements, and other tour services. The organizer/agency will accept no responsibility or liability in respect of either person or property for any loss, damage, injury, accident, delay or irregularity, however, occasioned, sustained, or suffered in or during any journey, trip, or tour, or in carrying out of any arrangements booked by or through it.

If the agency becomes aware that a passenger has a special chronic health problem, the agency shall ensure that it is provided with a letter from the passenger’s personal physician stating the nature of such health problem and certifying that the passenger is physically fit to participate in the tour.  Also, in our endeavor to ensure congenial membership, we reserve the right to refuse the application of anyone and / or to expel from the tour, members whose conduct is incompatible with the interests of the tour.  Further, we reserve the right to refuse the application of any handicapped passenger if it is determined that such passenger would impede the schedule of the tour and greatly inconvenience the majority of tour members.  However, if a handicapped passenger accepted for the tour requires any form of special assistance, he/she must be accompanied by a qualified helper who takes total responsibility for the handicapped passenger’s well being.

Baggage’s are at owner’s own risk.  The right is reserved to make any necessary changes in tour if deemed advisable.  Also, the airlines and other transportation companies concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission, or event during the time passengers are not on board their carriers concerned.  The airline ticket and passage contract in use by the airlines concerned when issued shall constitute the sole contract between the airlines and purchaser of the tour and/or passenger.  The services of any IATA Carrier will be used as required.  Thank You Very Much!

WATER:  Is safe to drink throughout Japan.

TRAVEL ETIQUETTE:  No one likes to be known as the last to arrive.  When traveling in a group it is very important that everyone be punctual.  Please remember, also, NO SMOKING AND TO ROTATE SEATS ON BUSES.  Everyone likes to sit by the window and front seats.

FOOD REQUEST:  If you cannot eat certain foods, please do not forget to turn in your request form, 1 week before departure or earlier, so we may try to comply with your request.

PORTERS AT HONOLULU AIRPORT{WHEN AVAILABLE}:  We have complimentary porter service at Honolulu International Airport on all Japan tour departures on JAPAN AIRLINES. FLIGHTS ONLY.

TOUR CONDITIONS REMINDER

The COST OF TOUR includes ground tour and airfare.  The ground tour is based on ¥95 Yens to a U.S. DOLLAR RATE.  In case of any re-valuation, the price shall be adjusted accordingly at time of payment.  See Yen Chart.  The airfares are present rates and should the airfares be changed, adjustments will be made accordingly.  The YEN RATE OF THE DAY will be used at time of payment.  THANK YOU!

TOUR MEMBERS NOT PURCHASING THEIR AIRLINE TICKETS THROUGH TOHOKU TRAVEL SERVICE, INC. WILL BE ASSESSED A $225.00 PER PERSON SURCHARGE.  SHOULD YOU ARRIVE AFTER THE TOUR GROUP’S ARRIVAL TIME, YOU MUST FIND YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION TO THE HOTEL.  SAME GOES FOR DEPARTURES FROM JAPAN.  IF YOUR FLIGHT LEAVES EARLIER THAN THE TOUR GROUP, YOU MUST FIND YOUR OWN WAY TO THE AIRPORT.  THE TOUR AIRFARE PORTION WILL BE SUBTRACTED FROM THE TOUR PACKAGE COST.  THANK YOU!
