OCT. 24 (MON) HONOLULU
Leave Honolulu Int’l Airport via Japan Airlines flight.  Lunch and a Snack will be served aboard the flight.  FREE MOVIES and DRINKS.  

OCT. 25(TUE) TOKYO                           HOTEL METROPOLITAN TOKYO
Arrive at Narita Int’l Airport and after government formalities, by bus to our hotel in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, located within easy walking distance to the Shopping District.  Upon arrival, FREE TIME to enjoy shopping, meet your relatives, friends or just rest. 

OCT. 26(WED) MINAKAMI                             MINAKAMI KOGEN HOTEL 200 (ONSEN)♨
Proceed to Maebashi, Gunma.  Visit the Akagi Foods Factory which produces “Crunchy Ume” (Plum).  You can sample the many different flavors of their products and also purchase them at the factory store.  Then proceed to Ikaho, a very famous spot in Gunma Prefecture.  Visit the Trick Art Museum and have fun with the collection of tricky art on display.  You can take pictures and touch the displays also.  Some pictures allow you to be a part of it.  You can also enjoy the Saru Mawashi Show (Monkey Performance) featuring familiar acrobatics and comic skits by talented and adorable monkeys.  We will stop at Suwa Gorge where you can see Autumn leaves (if timing is right).  Annually this gorge starts to turn to Autumn color around this time of the season.  Soak and Relax in the first Hotspring Bath and Roten Buro (Open Air Bath) on this tour.   

OCT. 27(THU) NIIGATA                                     HOTEL OKURA NIIGATA
Enjoy a 10 minute ride on the Mt. Tanigawa Ropeway, which takes you up to Tenjindaira Observatory (4,327 ft.).    We will see a magnificent view of Autumn scenery from there. Then proceed to Ojiya Town to visit Nishiki-Goi (Carp) Village.  Ojiya is known for cultivation of Nishiki Carp, often called swimming jewels.  This town produces 45% of Nishiki Carp in Japan.  We will see colorful carps swimming in a pool (15 species of 200 carps).  Later stop at Niigata Furusato Mura which carries souvenirs from all over Niigata Prefecture.  Enjoy shopping for famous local specialties such as Sake, Rice Cracker, Seafood, etc.  Then go to our hotel located in the center of Niigata City.  After hotel check-in, good chance to Holo-Holo near the hotel or just rest.

OCT. 28(FRI) SADO ISLAND  (**NO WESTERN ROOMS)                   HOTEL AZUMA - (ONSEN)♨               
Proceed to Niigata Pier to board the Jetfoil to Sado Island.  It has a lot of picturesque coastal scenery and also the old customs such as the Okesa Dance.  We will drive through the Sado Sky Line and enjoy seeing the Autumn Color from the bus window.  Enjoy the fantastic view of Senkaku Bay Scenic with its steep cliffs that stretches over 1 mile. Next: visit the famous Gold Mine Museum, a tourist facility built in an Edo Period Gold Mine, with robots recreating scenes from the old gold mining days.  For those who have been here before, it is suggested that you try the “Doyuko Course” with an actual “Haulage Audit Tunnel” which had been used until 1989.  You will also see “Doyu no Wareto” (Split Mountain) at the end of the route.  After dinner enjoy seeing the Sado Okesa Dance Show (traditional local dance in Sado) at the hotel lobby.  This night, you will get a chance to sleep on a traditional tatami floor.  “Sorry No Western Rooms” are available at this hotel.  Soak and Relax in the Public Bath and Open Air Onsen Bath.  Also a “Private Onsen Bath” (2 Rooms Only) is available (At Your Own Expense).  

OCT. 29(SAT) NIIGATA HOTEL OKURA NIIGATA                                       
In the morning visit the Meoto Iwa Rocks (“Meoto” means husband and wife),   two rocks lined-up close to each other like a couple.  Then visit the Sado History & Traditional Museum.  This museum has an exhibit with realistic robots showing Sado 800 years ago.    Later, catch the Jetfoil to go back to Niigata City.  After arrival at the hotel, it will be “Free Time” to meet your relatives, enjoy shopping or just rest. 

OCT. 30(SUN) NIIGATA                            HOTEL OKURA NIIGATA
In the morning proceed to Murakami City to visit Iyoboya Salmon Museum (Iyoboya means salmon in this area) to see a little hatchery and a fish tank of river fish on display. At this time of season, Salmon come back from the ocean to the river to lay their eggs. We will see Salmon swimming in the river from a window.  Every year the number of Salmon count is different, but the probability is high that we will see them.  Later visit Lake Hyoto see “Wild Swans” which come in from Siberia.  Annually Swans start to come back to the lake from October.  We will see 2,000 to 5,000 Swans at this lake.  

OCT. 31(MON) AKAKURA                                           AKAKURA KANKO HOTEL (ONSEN)♨
Visit Teradomari Fish Market to enjoy shopping for seafood etc.  It boasts “One of Niigata’s Best Fish Markets”.  The whole stretch of street is lined with one shop after another all selling fish and seafood.  Next proceed to Nagaoka to visit Yoshinogawa Sake Brewery, “the Oldest Sake Brewery in Niigata Prefecture with 462 years history”.  Niigata is known for its Sake made with good rice and fresh water.  You can also purchase the sake made here.  Then go to Akakura Onsen.  We will stay at a “Classic Japanese Resort” nestled high on the slopes of majestic Mt. Myoko.  Enjoy a Japanese Mountain Resort experience with Hot Spring Bath and Open Air Bath with beautiful mountain scenery.  Also a “Private Onsen” (1 Room Only) is available {“FREE”}.    

NOV. 1(TUE) AZUMINO                                                     HOTEL AMBIENT AZUMINO (ONSEN)♨
Head to Lake Nojiri known as an ancient glacial lake.  This picturesque mountain lake offers a variety of Autumn colors during this time of season.  Visit its museum, which has “an exhibition of the fossils of a Naumann Elephant and Big-horned Deer from 40,000 years ago excavated from the lake”.  If timing is right we will see a beautiful array of bright Autumn colors with breathtaking beauty.  Then go to Nagano to visit Zenkoji Temple, a Buddhist temple built in the 7th century.  This is a very popular temple among the Japanese people and 6,000,000 people visit here annually.  You can go inside the “National Treasure” Main Hall and also browse around the ally lined with many stores.  Nagano is the 2nd largest producer of “Apple” in Japan.  Have fun “Apple-Picking” to taste the fresh “Nagano Apple”.  We will stay at a nice mountain resort hotel located at the foot of the Northern Alps.    Soak and Relax in Hot Spring Bath and Open Air Bath surrounded by a forest. 

NOV. 2(WED) LAKE YAMANAKA                                                       HOTEL MOUNT FUJI (ONSEN)♨
Proceed to Yamanashi, “birth place of Japanese Wine”.  We will “visit a winery to try tasting the local wine and purchase it”.  Then go to Lake Yamanaka, “One of the Mt. Fuji Five Lakes” to enjoy the Autumn scenery with “Mt. Fuji as a back drop (Weather Permitting).  Annually this time of season is “the best time to see Autumn leaves”.  Visit the “Autumn Leaves Festival” where you can see beautiful Autumn leaves at the lake side park.  Also visit “Fujiyoshida Museum of History” another beautiful Autumn spot where the “Autumn Festival” will be held.  Later go to our hotel located in the highlands overlooking Lake Yamanaka and Mt. Fuji.  We will enjoy a “Kaiseki Dinner” in the evening and Relax in the Onsen Hot Spring and Open Air Bath with a view of Mt. Fuji.  If the weather is fine, you can see a breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji from the hotel garden. 

NOV. 3 (THU) YOKOHAMA YOKOHAMA BAY SHERATON HOTEL & TOWERS
Proceed down to Lake Yamanaka to enjoy a “Boat Cruise”.   Get the feeling of Autumn with the beautiful red color while observing Mt. Fuji (If weather is nice).  Next go to the Hakone Venetian Glass Museum.  This museum is designed in Venetian Style and displays glass works made of Venetian Glass.  You can browse around its garden with nice Autumn color.  Then proceed to Yokohama, 2nd largest city in Japan.  Hotel is located within easy walking distance to the Department Stores, Electronics Store, ¥100 Yen Shop and Underground Shopping Mall.  After arrival “FREE TIME” for shopping or meeting your friends or just rest.   

NOV. 4(FRI) YOKOHAMA YOKOHAMA BAY SHERATON HOTEL & TOWERS
Proceed to Tokyo to visit “The Former Iwasaki House & Garden”, featuring elaborate and elegant old wooden buildings that were the palatial home of the “Iwasaki Family”, founding family of “Mitsubishi”.  The subtle combination of Western and Japanese Styles in the building and the intriguing history behind the adoption of western manners and lifestyle by Japan’s elite during the Meiji Era (1868-1912) make it well worth to visit.  Then go to Ameyoko, a shopping street lined with discount stores carrying various products such as fresh fish, dried food, clothes, cosmetics, etc.  Later go back to our hotel in Yokohama where you can continue shopping. Your room is paid for, but meals (LUNCH / DINNER) will be at your own expense to let you eat your favorite foods before returning home.  We will give everyone a carton box to use for packing his or her gifts.  (2 Pieces Per Person Baggage Allowance.  The member will pay for any excess). 

NOV. 5 (SAT) HONOLULU     {ONLY BREAKFAST IS INCLUDED THIS DAY} {LUNCH ON YOUR OWN / DINNER ON THE PLANE}
At check out time, our agents will come to tape & tie-up the boxes and take the baggage’s to be checked-in down. In the afternoon, proceed to Narita Int’l Airport to catch Japan Airlines flight in the evening to Honolulu, arriving the same morning, NOVEMBER 5, 2011(SATURDAY). After clearing U.S. Custom, proceed home.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR JOINING OUR AUTUMN NIIGATA/ SADO & MT. FUJI TOUR #18.   Clients remaining back will be assisted in obtaining train, plane and hotel reservations. Members may return to Honolulu individually, but no later than 3 months from day of departure.  Weekday returns will cost less Per Person. TOUR CONDITIONS

AIR TRANSPORTATION: Airfare is based on VALUE FARE.

Minimum stay is 3-Days and maximum stay is 3 Months.  $225.00 Cancellation Fee.

INCLUDES: All transportation included in the itinerary, all hotel accommodations, meals and all sightseeing listed, all transfer of passenger and baggage, souvenir picture and tour tax. Round trip air transportation by Economy Jet.

DOES NOT INCLUDE:  Individual expenses after termination of tour as stated in itinerary.  Also, wine, liquor, mineral water, laundry and other items of personal nature, cost of obtaining passport and visa or other necessary documents.

BAGGAGE:  Limited to (2) pieces (50 pounds per suitcase) and (1) hand-carry.

RESPONSIBILITY:   The tour organizer or any travel agencies involved, act only as agents for the passengers in regards to travel, sightseeing, hotel and meal arrangements, and other tour services.  The organizer/agency will accept no responsibility or liability in respect of either person or property for any loss, damage, injury, accident, delay or irregularity, however, occasioned, sustained, or suffered in or during any journey, trip, or tour, or in carrying out of any arrangements booked by or through it. 

If the agency becomes aware that a passenger has a special chronic health problem, the agency shall ensure that it is provided with a letter from the passenger’s personal physician stating the nature of such health problem and certifying that the passenger is physically fit to participate in the tour.  Also, in our endeavor to ensure congenial membership, we reserve the right to refuse the application of anyone and / or to expel from the tour, members whose conduct is incompatible with the interests of the tour.  Further, we reserve the right to refuse the application of any handicapped passenger if it is determined that such passenger would impede the schedule of the tour and greatly inconvenience the majority of tour members.  However, if a handicapped passenger accepted for the tour requires any form of special assistance, he/she must be accompanied by a qualified helper who takes total responsibility for the handicapped passenger’s well being. 

Baggage’s are at owner’s own risk.  The right is reversed to make any necessary changes in tour if deemed advisable.  Also, the airlines and other transportation companies concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission, or event during the time passengers are not on board their carriers concerned.  The airline ticket and passage contract in use by the airlines concerned when issued shall constitute the sole contract between the airlines and purchaser of the tour and/or passenger.  The services of any IATA Carrier will be used as required.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

TRAVEL HINTS

WATER:  Is safe to drink throughout Japan.

TRAVEL ETIQUETTE:  No one likes to be known as the last to arrive.  When traveling in a group it is very important that everyone be punctual.  Please remember, also, NO SMOKING AND TO ROTATE SEATS ON BUSES.  Everyone likes to sit by the window and front seats.

FOOD REQUEST:  If you cannot eat certain foods, please do not forget to turn-in your request form, 1 week before departure or earlier, so we may try to comply with your request. 

PASSPORT PHOTOS:  Free for our “TOUR MEMBERS ONLY”.  Taken at Tohoku Travel Service office at 1741 Nuuanu Avenue 2nd Floor, Honolulu, Hawaii 96817. 

PORTERS AT HONOLULU AIRPORT:  We have complimentary porter service at Honolulu International Airport on all Japan tour departures on JAPAN AIRLINES FLIGHTS ONLY.

TOUR CONDITIONS REMINDER
The COST OF TOUR includes ground tour an airfare.  The ground tour is based on ¥95 Yens to a U.S. DOLLAR RATE.  In case of any re-valuation, the price shall be adjusted accordingly at time of payment.  See Yen Chart.  The airfares are present rates and should the airfares be changed, adjustments will be made accordingly.  The YEN RATE OF THE DAY will be used at time of payment. TOUR MEMBERS NOT PURCHASING THEIR AIRLINE TICKETS THROUGH TOHOKU TRAVEL SERVICE, INC. WILL BE ASSESSED A $225.00 PER PERSON SURCHARGE.  SHOULD YOU ARRIVE AFTER THE TOUR GROUPS ARRIVAL TIME, YOU MUST FIND YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION TO THE HOTEL.  SAME GOES FOR DEPARTURES FROM JAPAN.  IF YOUR FLIGHT LEAVES EARLIER THAN THE TOUR GROUP, YOU MUST FIND YOUR OWN WAY TO THE AIRPORT.  THE TOUR AIRFARE PORTION WILL BE SUBTRACTED FROM THE TOUR PACKAGE COST.
