Leave Honolulu Int’l Airport via Japan Airlines flight.  Lunch and a Snack will be served aboard the flight.  FREE MOVIES & DRINKS.


JULY 5(THU) OSAKA SENRI HANKYU HOTEL

Arrive at Kansai (Osaka) Int’l Airport and after clearing government formalities, by bus to Senri Chuo, Osaka’s New Town District surrounded by green hills.  Our hotel is connected to the Shopping Mall and easy walking distance to the Station, Department Store, Supermarket, etc.   After hotel check-in, FREE TIME to go “Holo-Holo”!  


JULY 6 (FRI) OSAKA SENRI HANKYU HOTEL

Visit the Osaka Museum of History.  This museum will take you on a “Short Journey of Osaka History”.  We will see structures with Vermillion Pillars from the Nara Period, how the daily life of the Osaka people used to be during the Sengoku Period and when Japan started to get modernized in the Taisho to Showa Period.  You can observe the whole image of Osaka Castle from this building.  Next go to the National museum of Ethnology located at the former site of Expo ’70, Japan’s First World’s Fair.  In the museum we will see regional exhibitions focused on Oceania, America, Europe, Africa, West Asia, Southeast Asia, Central/North Asia, and East Asia and the thematic exhibitions focus on Language and Music.   In the park there is Taiyo no To (Tower of the Sun) 230 ft. a symbolic tower created by the artist Okamoto Taro.  After going back to the hotel, get a good chance for shopping around the hotel.   


JULY 7(SAT) GIFU GIFU MIYAKO HOTEL  

In the morning, we will enjoy “Blueberry Picking” which can be done only during this time of season. Taste the “Made in Japan” Blueberry before stopping at the AEON Shopping Center for Lunch and Shopping.  Then go to Gifu Prefecture and our excellent hotel accommodation located in front of the Nagara River.  In the evening we will “enjoy watching Ukai (Cormorant Fishing)” on the Nagara River from the “Yakata Boat” (1 hour ride).  Ukai is a fishing method with a “1,300 Year Old History” using cormorant for catching sweet fish.  {For Those Who Wish To}.  “Enjoy a World of Delicate Beauty in Japanese Tradition”.  

 

JULY 8(SUN) OTSU OTSU PRINCE HOTEL

Go to Aqua Toto Gifu, a fresh water aquarium displaying fishes which inhabit the Nagara River and many types of freshwater fishes from all over the world such as Salamander, Catfish, Lungfish, etc.  Then visit Miho Museum, known as the “Most Impressive Underground Museum in the World”.  The building itself is designed by I. M. Pei, a Chinese American architect often called a “Master of Modern Architecture”.  This museum has various exhibitions of works collected from ancient civilizations including the Egyptians, Romans and Asian Cultures.  Later proceed to our hotel located by Lake Biwa, the “Biggest Lake in Japan”.  Your room faces the lake providing a “Magnificent View”!   


JULY 9 (MON) KOBE ANA CROWNE PLAZA  HOTEL KOBE

Proceed to Kyoto.  Have fun riding on the Sagano Scenic Railway, known as the “Torokko Train”.  This open window train gives you a nice breeze while viewing the river flowing through Hotsugawa Gorge during the ride.  Then head to Mt. Rokko, Kobe and visit the Hall of Halls Rokko a music box museum with automatic musical instruments including the “Dance Organ” that is “One of the World’s Largest”.  We will enjoy a fabulous music performance.  After check-in at the hotel located at the foot of Mt. Rokko, those who wish to can take the “Rope Way” (walking distance from the hotel) to enjoy the magnificent scenery of Mt. Rokko and Kobe Bay.  In the evening you can enjoy a beautiful night view from your room praised as having a “Value of 10 Million Dollars”!  {Weather -Permitting}.      


JULY 10 (TUE) MUNAKATA GENKAI ROYAL HOTEL (ONSEN)

Walk to the Shin Kobe Shinkansen Station (connected to the hotel) to catch the Shinkansen for a 2 hour ride, passing through Himeji, Okayama, Hiroshima, and Yamaguchi before getting off at the entrance of Kyushu, Kokura in Kitakyushu.  Transfer to a bus and go to visit Inochi no Tabi Museum with its main exhibition of dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus, Stegosaurus, Triceratops and also a Seismosaurus with a length of 115 feet exhibited.  Then head to the hotel in Munakata, Fukuoka Prefecture.  Soak and Relax in the Onsen and Roten Buro (Open Air Bath).  


JULY 11 (WED) KIJIMA HEIGHTS CENTLEISURE KIJIMA KOGEN HOTEL (ONSEN)

Go to Yame City, the leading production area of “Gyokuro Tea” (The Highest Grade of All Japanese Tea).  We will visit the Yame Craftwork Center to see its Toro Ningyo Yatai (Stage for Traditional Doll Performance) with its “Karakuri” (Secret), how they control doll and stage from its back and bottom.  We will also see craftsmen making traditional craftworks such as Japanese Paper Lantern, Bamboo Craft, etc. which can be purchased.  Then visit the Taio Gold Mine Underground Museum.  This gold mine was founded in the Meiji Period and actually operated from 1898 to 1972.  They renovated it into a museum where you can go inside an actual mine to see how the miners used to work.  Later go to the nice mountain resort hotel surrounded by forests and mountains.  Enjoy the Onsen Hot Spring and Open Air Bath.  “Private Onsen” is available (At Your Own Expense).       


JULY 12 (THU) KIJIMA HEIGHTS CENTLEISURE KIJIMA KOGEN HOTEL (ONSEN)

Enjoy driving the Yamanami Highway along with beautiful mountain scenery known as “One of the Most Beautiful Scenic Driveways in Japan”.  Visit the Kuju Lavender Park where we will see a beautiful carpet of lavender which stands out against the deep green of the mountains (depending on climate conditions).  Also go to see the “Kuju Great Suspension Bridge” the “Longest and Highest Pedestrian Bridge in Japan” (567ft high & 1,279ft long), that opened in 2006.  If you wish to and have the courage, you can “try walking on it”!  {Please do not worry, it is not mandatory}. After going back to the hotel, you can go to Kijima Kogen Amusement Park located next to the hotel. {Admission will be paid for, but attraction fee will be “At Your Own Expense”).  You can try the Wooden Roller Coaster, Water Splash Roller Coaster, Spiral Roller Coaster, Trapeze, etc.  (each ride ranges somewhere around ¥300 Yens to ¥1,000 Yens).  Or you can get rested at the hotel and enjoy the Onsen Hot Spring and Open Air Bath if you prefer.       


JULY 13 (FRI) HAKATA (FUKUOKA) HAKATA EXCEL HOTEL TOKYU

Proceed to Hakata, the “Biggest City in Kyushu”.  It will be early check-in to the hotel located by the Naka River where a lot of stalls (Yatai) line the river bank in the evening.   You will get a chance to stroll around Hakata’s famous food stalls with their lively atmosphere.   We will take those wishing to the Kawabata Shopping Mall with 100 stores lining it such as a Kimono Store, Hardware Store, Tea Store, etc.  This mall is also known for “Zenzai”.  In the afternoon, there will be a big “Yamamise Parade” right in front of the hotel.  This is one of the highlights of the Yamakasa Festival which keeps on going from July 1 through July 15.  We will see 7 teams parading right in front of our hotel.  Enjoy the great energy of Hakata up close.  


JULY 14 (SAT) KOKURA HOTEL CROWN PALAIS KOKURA

{Only BREAKFAST is included this day}.  {LUNCH and DINNER will be “At Your Own Expense”}.  Cross the Kanmon Straits to go to Shimonoseki (Yamaguchi Prefecture), known as the scene of an ancient battle leading to the “Fall of the Heike Clan” (in 1185) and fight between Musashi Miyamoto and Kojiro Sasaki (in 1612).  Visit the Karato Fish Market for some fun shopping for Tsukemono, Dried Seafood, etc.  This market is known for certain specialties including “Balloon Fish” (Fugu).  Also a good chance to “Eat Fresh Sushi a Piece at a Time” {At Your Own Expense}.  Later enjoy shopping at the AEON Shopping Center before going to the hotel in Kokura, near Tanga Wholesale Market, called the Kitchen of Kitakyushu.  UPON ARRIVAL, FREE TIME TO FINISH SHOPPING, PACKING, ETC.  Your rooms are paid for, but (DINNER) will be at your own expense to let you eat your favorite foods before returning home.  We will give everyone a carton box for packing his or her gifts.  (2 Pieces Per Person Baggage Allowance.  Any excess will be paid for by the member).  


JULY 15(SUN) HONOLULU                     {ONLY BREAKFAST IS INCLUDED THIS DAY}

At checkout time our agents will come around to tape and tie up the boxes and take the baggage’s to be checked-in down.  In the afternoon, proceed to Fukuoka Airport to catch a domestic flight to Kansai (Osaka) or Narita Airport and transfer to a Japan Airlines connecting flight in the evening to Honolulu, arriving the same morning, JULY 15, 2012 (SUNDAY).  After clearing U.S. Customs, proceed home.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR JOINING OUR TOHOKU TRAVEL’S CORMORANT FISHING & YAMAKASA FESTIVAL TOUR #12!  Clients remaining back will be assisted in obtaining train, plane and hotel reservation.  Members may return to Honolulu individually, but no later than 3 months from day of departure.  Weekday returns will cost less per person.  Please call our office if you are extending your stay in Japan.  MAHALO!

{$225.00 Cancellation Fee charged by the airlines.}  Minimum stay is 3-Days and maximum stay is 3 Months.  

INCLUDES:  All transportation included in the itinerary, all hotel accommodations, meals and all sightseeing listed, all transfer of passenger and baggage, souvenir picture and tour tax.  Roundtrip air transportation by Economy Jet.  

DOES NOT INCLUDE:  Individual expenses after termination of tour as stated in itinerary.  Also, wine, liquor, mineral water, laundry and other items of personal nature, cost of obtaining passport and visa or other necessary documents.

BAGGAGE:  Limited to (1) piece, 50 lbs. and (1) hand-carry.

RESPONSIBILITY:  The tour organizer or any travel agencies involved, act only as agents for the passengers in regards to travel, sightseeing, hotel and meal arrangements, and other tour services. The organizer/agency will accept no responsibility or liability in respect of either person or property for any loss, damage, injury, accident, delay or irregularity, however, occasioned, sustained, or suffered in or during any journey, trip, or tour, or in carrying out of any arrangements booked by or through it.  

If the agency becomes aware that a passenger has a special chronic health problem, the agency shall ensure that it is provided with a letter from the passenger’s personal physician stating the nature of such health problem and certifying that the passenger is physically fit to participate in the tour.  Also, in our endeavor to ensure congenial membership, we reserve the right to refuse the application of anyone and / or to expel from the tour, members whose conduct is incompatible with the interests of the tour.  Further, we reserve the right to refuse the application of any handicapped passenger if it is determined that such passenger would impede the schedule of the tour and greatly inconvenience the majority of tour members.  However, if a handicapped passenger accepted for the tour requires any form of special assistance, he/she must be accompanied by a qualified helper who takes total responsibility for the handicapped passenger’s well being.  

Baggage’s are at owner’s own risk.  The right is reserved to make any necessary changes in tour if deemed advisable.  

Also, the airlines and other transportation companies concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission, or event during the time passengers are not on board their carriers concerned.  The airline ticket and passage contract in use by the airlines concerned when issued shall constitute the sole contract between the airlines and purchaser of the tour and/or passenger.
