SEP. 2(SUN) HONOLULU                                                                                                                                

Leave Honolulu Int’l Airport via Japan Airlines flight.  Lunch and a Snack will be served aboard the flight.  FREE MOVIES and DRINKS.


SEP. 3(MON) YOKOHAMA YOKOHAMA BAY SHERATON HOTEL & TOWERS

Arrive at Narita Int’l Airport and after clearing government formalities, go directly by bus to the hotel in Yokohama, 2nd biggest city in Japan.  After hotel check-in, FREE TIME to meet your relatives, friends or just rest.  Our hotel is located within easy walking distance to the Department Stores, Big Electric Shop, ¥100 Yen Shop and Underground Shopping Mall.

SEP. 4(TUE) YUNOKAWA YUMOTO TAKUBOKUTEI HOTEL (ONSEN)

In the morning, visit the Kawasaki Daishi Temple with its Nakamise Shopping Alley. This temple was established about 880 years ago and famed for preventing misfortune.  It is known as one of the top three most popular temples in the Japan for “Traditional New Year’s Visits”.  Then head to Haneda Airport to catch a domestic flight to Hakodate in Southern Hokkaido.  Upon arrival, by bus to Yunokawa the oldest Onsen Hot Spring town in Hokkaido.  Our hotel has an Observatory Hot Spring Bath and Open Air Bath (Roten Buro) on the top floor where you can over-look Hakodate City and the Tsugaru Straits.  There is a “Huge Japanese Garden” where you can enjoy strolling.  In the evening, enjoy a Buffet Dinner with fresh local foods such as Sushi, Tempura, etc.    


SEP. 5(WED) YUNOKAWA YUMOTO TAKUBOKUTEI HOTEL (ONSEN)

Visit the famous Hakodate Morning Market to buy dried seafood etc.  Then head to visit the Sumo Museum, which commemorates Two Great Yokozuna Sumo Wrestlers, “Chiyonofuji” & “Chiyonoyama”.  Chiyonofuji is considered to be “the most successful sumo wrestler of all time and won no fewer than 31Top Division Titles”.  They annually have Summer Camp during this time of season and we may be able to see the sumo wrestlers training here.  Later visit the Seikan Undersea Tunnel Museum, detailing the history and function of the Seikan Undersea Tunnel that connects Japan’s main island of Honshu and Hokkaido.  Also visit the Trappistine Convent founded by eight nuns from France in 1898.  The convent’s beautiful brick building with a green roof contrasts with the religious institution, statues of Virgin Mary and Joan of Arc in its front courtyard are impressive indeed. Then go back to the hotel to Soak and Relax in the Hot Spring Bath  and Open Air Bath!

  

SEP. 6(THU) AOMORI AOMORI ROYAL HOTEL (ONSEN)

Proceed to Hakodate Station to catch the express Train to cross to Aomori via the Seikan Undersea Tunnel.  This 33.5 miles long tunnel is the “Second Longest Undersea Tunnel in the World”.  Upon arrival at Aomori Station, go by bus to Inakadate to see “Rice Paddy Art” which appeared on the CBS News.  The huge pictures appearing in the rice paddies are created by carefully planting different varieties of rice.   Green leaf  Rices are turning to yellow in September.  This “Huge art in the rice paddy “can be enjoyed until it will be harvested in early October.  Later proceed to Owani Hot Spring with over 800 years history.  We will stay at an Onsen Resort Hotel located on top of the mountain where you can view the Tsugaru Plain.  Enjoy the Hot Spring Bath and Open Air Bath.

   

SEP. 7(FRI) OUSYUKU HOTEL MORINOKAZE OUSYUKU (ONSEN)

Visit the Korakukan Old Theater, the “oldest extant wooden theater in Japan”.  Built for the entertainment of mine employees in 1910, it is a small theater in which Meiji Era Traditions are preserved and it has become a “Symbol of Culture and the Arts”.  Then head to the Hachimantai High Land.  We will enjoy driving the Hachimantai Aspite Line which runs through the Towada Hachimantai National Park while viewing the beautiful scenery.  It is said to be “one of the best roads in Japan for a scenic drive along the road”.  You will see Mt. Iwate (6,686 ft), a symbolic mountain, on the way.  We will stay at a popular Onsen Resort Hotel, surrounded by a forest.  After dinner, you can enjoy a “Japanese Drum & Dance Show” in the hotel lobby.  Soak and Relax in the Hot Spring Bath and Open Air Bath where you can see Mt. Iwate on a clear day.  


SEP. 8(SAT) AKITA HOTEL METROPOLITAN AKITA

Head to Kakunodate Old Samurai Town.  The town’s appearance is similar to that of Kyoto and is called “Little Kyoto”.  Enjoy browsing around the “Old Samurai Town” that remains remarkably unchanged since its founding in 1620.  We will visit the Samurai House which is a great example showing the “Bukeyashiki Style” Dwelling in which the higher ranked samurai lived.  Then proceed to the AEON Shopping Mall to enjoy shopping before going to the hotel.  Our hotel is connected to Akita Station and its Shopping Area.  After hotel check-in, good chance to enjoy shopping at the ¥100 Yen Shop etc.       


SEP. 9(SUN) TSURUOKA TOKYO DAI-ICHI HOTEL TSURUOKA (ONSEN)

In the morning go to the Marugoto Market carrying local specialties of Akita such as Sake, Rice Cracker, Udon Noodle etc.  Next proceed to Herb World, where flowers are blooming all year round and enjoy strolling around the garden with colorful flowers. Then enjoy driving on the Obako Okesa Scenic Road while viewing the Japan Sea and rugged shore line to the Sankyo Warehouse, built in 1893 and serverd as a backdrop for the famous TV Drama, “Oshin”.   Enjoy walking around the old warehouse with old Zelkova trees and shopping at the Souvenir Shops.  Later proceed to an old castle town Tsuruoka.  We will stay at a city hotel with Onsen Hot Spring connected to a Shopping Mall with a ¥100 Yen Shop, etc.  After enjoying shopping, Soak and Relax in the Open Air Hot Spring Bath and Jacuzzi.

         

SEP. 10(MON) TAINAI ROYAL TAINAI PARK HOTEL (ONSEN)

Visit the Shonai Movie Village, shooting location for a number of recent samurai movies and television dramas.  It now attracts people who are interested in the location of the 2009 Oscar Winning Movie “Departures”.  You will see the huge open air set of “Tsuru no Yu”.  You might remember scenes of a public bath in the movie that were shot here..  Next proceed to Niigata Prefecture and visit the Sasagawa Nagare Scenic Coast. It is “one of the most beautiful scenic spots in Niigata”.  The coast along the Japan Sea has many scenic points with very clear sea water.  View a wide array of sights including cliffs, caves, outcroppings and unusual rock formations created by erosion from the Japan Sea.   Our hotel is located in Tainai Spa,surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. We will stay at the best Western Style Hotel in the area with an Onsen Hot Spring.  Soak and Relax in the Hot Spring Bath and Open Air Hot Spring known as “Bijin no Yu (Hot Spring for Beautiful Woman)”.


SEP. 11(TUE) ECHIGO YUZAWA NASPA NEW OTANI HOTEL (ONSEN)

In the morning, visit Shimizuen Garden, built during the Edo Era in 1665.  The garden is a “showcase of seasonal shrubs and flowers”.  This Kaiyushiki Style Strolling Garden has several tea pavilions surrounding a large pond. Then proceed to Niigata City.  Niigata produces “the Best Rice in Japan”. We will stop at Niigata Furusato Mura which carries souvenirs from all over Niigata Prefecture.  Enjoy shopping for Niigata’s famous local specialties such as “Sake, Rice Crackers, Seafood, etc.”  Later have fun “Picking Pears” which are in season on  the way to Nagaoka to visit a Sake Brewery.  Niigata is known for Sake made of good rice and fresh water.  “Try tasting the local Sake of Niigata” and also purchase some.  Our hotel is an Onsen Hot Spring Resort Hotel in the spectacular surrounding of Yuzawa Town.  Enjoy Your Last Hot Spring Bath and Open Air Bath on this tour.       


SEP. 12(WED) IKEBUKURO HOTEL METROPOLITAN

On the way to Tokyo we will stop at the AEON Shopping Center for shopping and lunch.  Then head to our hotel in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.  Our hotel is located within easy walking distance to the Ikebukuro Shopping District.  After hotel check in, “FREE TIME” TO FINISH SHOPPING, PACKING, ETC.  Your rooms are paid for, but meals (LUNCH/DINNER) will be “At Your Own Expense” to let you eat your favorite dishes before returning home.  We will give everyone a carton box to use for packing their gifts.  (2 Pieces Per Person Baggage Allowance.  Any excess will be paid for by the member).


SEPT. 13(THU) HONOLULU             {ONLY BREAKFAST IS INCLUDED THIS DAY}

At check-out time our agents will come around to tape and tie-up the boxes and take the baggage’s to be checked-in down.  In the afternoon, proceed to Narita Int’l Airport to catch a Japan Airlines flight in the evening to Honolulu, arriving the same morning, SEPTEMBER 13, 2012 (THURSDAY).  After clearing U.S. Customs proceed home.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR JOINING OUR 2012 TOHOKU TRAVEL’S AUTUMN HOKKAIDO & URA NIHON “BOCHA-BOCHA” TOUR #14A!  Clients remaining back will be assisted in obtaining train, plane and hotel reservations.  Members may return to Honolulu individually, but no later than 3 months from day of departure.   Weekend returns will cost more per person.

{$225.00 Cancellation Fee charged by the airlines.}  Minimum stay is 3-Days and maximum stay is 3 Months.  

INCLUDES:  All transportation included in the itinerary, all hotel accommodations, meals and all sightseeing listed, all transfer of passenger and baggage, souvenir picture and tour tax.  Roundtrip air transportation by Economy Jet.  

DOES NOT INCLUDE:  Individual expenses after termination of tour as stated in itinerary.  Also, wine, liquor, mineral water, laundry and other items of personal nature, cost of obtaining passport and visa or other necessary documents.

BAGGAGE:  Limited to (1) piece, 50 lbs. and (1) hand-carry.

RESPONSIBILITY:  The tour organizer or any travel agencies involved, act only as agents for the passengers in regards to travel, sightseeing, hotel and meal arrangements, and other tour services. The organizer/agency will accept no responsibility or liability in respect of either person or property for any loss, damage, injury, accident, delay or irregularity, however, occasioned, sustained, or suffered in or during any journey, trip, or tour, or in carrying out of any arrangements booked by or through it.  

If the agency becomes aware that a passenger has a special chronic health problem, the agency shall ensure that it is provided with a letter from the passenger’s personal physician stating the nature of such health problem and certifying that the passenger is physically fit to participate in the tour.  Also, in our endeavor to ensure congenial membership, we reserve the right to refuse the application of anyone and / or to expel from the tour, members whose conduct is incompatible with the interests of the tour.  Further, we reserve the right to refuse the application of any handicapped passenger if it is determined that such passenger would impede the schedule of the tour and greatly inconvenience the majority of tour members.  However, if a handicapped passenger accepted for the tour requires any form of special assistance, he/she must be accompanied by a qualified helper who takes total responsibility for the handicapped passenger’s well being.  

Baggage’s are at owner’s own risk.  The right is reserved to make any necessary changes in tour if deemed advisable.  

Also, the airlines and other transportation companies concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission, or event during the time passengers are not on board their carriers concerned.  The airline ticket and passage contract in use by the airlines concerned when issued shall constitute the sole contract between the airlines and purchaser of the tour and/or passenger.
