SEP. 23 (SUN) HONOLULU

Leave Honolulu Int’l Airport via Japan Airlines  flight.  Lunch and a Snack will be served aboard the flight.  FREE Movies and Drinks.


SEP. 24 (MON) KOBE KOBE BAY SHERATON HOTEL & TOWERS

Arrive at Kansai Int’l Airport and after clearing government formalities, by bus to the hotel located in the center of Rokko Island, Kobe.  Our hotel is located close to the Monorail Station and Convenience Store.  *There is a possibility to arrive at Haneda or Narita Airport and transfer to Itami Airport.


SEP. 25 (TUE) OKAYAMA HOTEL GRANVIA OKAYAMA

Go to Ako known as the place of Chushingura (the 47 Samurai), one of the most famous Samurai stories in Japan.  We will visit the Ako Castle Ruins and Oishi Shrine.  Ako Castle is well known as the residence of Lord Takuminokami Asano and his loyal retainers.  Oishi Shrine was constructed in dedication to the 47 Loyal Samurai.  You will see stone statues of the 47 Samurai standing along the entrance path to the shrine.  Then proceed to Bizen known as the hometown of Bizen-yaki, a pottery with a history of over 1,000 years.  Visit the Bizen Art Museum displaying both old and new examples of Bizen-style Pottery.  You can also purchase the famous Bizen-yaki Pottery at the store.  Later go to Okayama City and our hotel located next to Okayama Station and Underground Shopping Mall.  You can enjoy shopping after hotel check in.       


SEP. 26(WED) OKAYAMA HOTEL GRANVIA OKAYAMA

Enjoy “Muscat Picking”.  Muscat is a type of grape with beautiful emerald green color and often called “Queen of Fruits”.  Taste the regional goodies of Okayama!  Visit Mukashi Shimotsui Kaisen Donya, the currently existing shipping agent building which was restored as much as possible to its original form.  Shimotsui used to be a busy port town during the Edo to Taisho Period.  Then proceed to Kurashiki, well known as the “most representative sightseeing District in Okayama Prefecture”.  Its historical and traditional heritage can be seen everywhere in the Bikan Historical District with the lovely white walls of its old warehouse buildings and many small stalls lining the river.  Later go back to the hotel to enjoy “Holo-Holo” near the hotel.       

SEP. 27(THU) DAISEN DAISEN  ROYAL HOTEL (ONSEN)

Visit Bicchu Takahashi Old Town to enjoy unique and distinctive cityscapes while browsing around Fukiya Furusato Village with “Traditional Houses” with roof tiles which are painted a superb “Bronzed-Red Color” with a material called “Bengala”(made of copper)which are well preserved from the Edo Period.  Next proceed to “Japan’s Largest Floral Theme Park” “Tottori Hanakairo Flower Park”, to see seasonal flowers such as Salvia, Cosmos, Marigolds, etc. (depending on the climate of the year).  Then go to our hotel located halfway up Mt. Daisen with an altitude of 5,673 ft.  Get a chance to Soak and Relax in your first Onsen Hot Spring  Roten Buro (Open Air Bath) and Big public bath..


SEP. 28(FRI) MATSUE MATSUE TOKYU INN

Visit the Adachi Museum with its superb Japanese Garden which is praised as the “Best Japanese Garden in the World”.  Every stone, every bush and even the angle of the tree planting, has been given detailed thought.  Its collection of contemporary Japanese paintings of Yokoyama Taikan and many sculptures and ceramic arts are also a pleasure to see.  Next visit the Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine, Japan’s oldest shrine (dates back 1,500 years).  October is a special month for this shrine since it is believed that the gods from all over Japan get together.  Then proceed to Matsue full of historical and cultural charms.  First visit the symbol of Matsue, Matsue Castle, “one of 12 original-structured castles left in Japan, built in 1611”.   Our hotel is located right in front of Matsue Train Station and the Department Store where you can enjoy “Holo-Holo” after hotel check in.       


SEP. 29 (SAT) OKI ISLAND OKI VIEW PORT HOTEL

Head to Oki Island in the Japan Sea.  This island is associated with history and legends as the site of exile of Emperor Godaigo and aristocrats in 1332.  The dynamic landscape of continuing cliffs, uniquely shaped rocks and caves is breathtaking.  By bus to Shichirui Port to catch a ferry boat to Dohgo Island, a part of Oki Island.  Visit Tamawakasu-no Mikoto Shrine, the main shrine of Oki Island with its 2,000 years old Cedar Tree (Yao Sugi).  Before going to the hotel, watch a “Bull Fighting” Exhibition Match.  (No Blood, No Brutality).  Japan’s longest existing bullfighting, that dates back to 780years ago.  (In case of cancellation due to their schedule, we will watch a movie show).  


SEP. 30 (SUN) MATSUE MATSUE TOKYU INN

Catch a Ferry to Dohzen Island then take a sightseeing boat to see the East Kuniga Coast eroded by the waves of the Japan Sea.  The rough 8 miles long Basaltic Rock Coast contains many caves, crags and rough cliffs.  The 900 feet high Matengai (Skyscraping) Cliff is impressive and “one of the highlights of this tour”.  Then catch the Jetfoil Boat to Shichirui Port and back to the hotel in Matsue.      


OCT. 1 (MON) TOTTORI HOTEL NEW OTANI TOTTORI

Visit Koizumi Yakumo (Lafcadio Hearn) House. Koizumi Yakumo was a Greek Novelist who loved Matsue and naturalized as a Japanese Citizen.  You can learn more about this fascinating writer at his former residence.  Also see the Samurai House (Bukeyashiki), unchanged since it was built in the middle of the Edo Period (270 years ago).  Next go to Encho-En, a garden with beautiful Chinese Architecture to browse around and see the Chinese Acrobatic Show.  Enjoy an amazing show performed by talented artists who perform stunts that are truly unbelievable.  After enjoying a stroll in the park, head to our hotel in Tottori City.  Enjoy “Holo-Holo” near the hotel after check in.  Our hotel is next to Daimaru Department Store.  


OCT. 2 (TUE) AMA NO HASHIDATE MIYAZU ROYAL HOTEL (ONSEN)

Go to the Karoichi Fish Market to enjoy shopping for dried seafood from the Japan Sea.  Then go to Tottori Sand Dune.  The largest sand dune in Japan stretching 6 miles long and 1.5 miles wide, facing the Japan Sea.  Enjoy the breathtaking, beautiful natural land formation created by sand and winds over the last 100,000 years.  Before going to the hotel, have fun “Picking Pears” in season.  Tottori is the 3rd largest producer of pear in Japan.  Then go to our luxurious Resort Hotel with Onsen Hot Spring.  Soak and Relax in the  Open Air Onsen Hot Spring Bath.


OCT. 3 (WED) WEST KOBE KOBE SEISHIN ORIENTAL HOTEL

In the morning visit Amanohashidate, a 2mile long sandbar lined with a thick grove of pine trees and has been called as a place of incomparable beauty since ancient times. Go by cable car to the observatory in Kasamatsu Park.  At the platform here try bending down and looking at the view through your spread legs.  It is said that the view will resemble a “Bridge to the Heavens”.  Later stop at Sasayama Town which once flourished as a castle town to visit Daishoin, a replica of a building where important political meetings used to be held during the Edo Period.  We will also visit Taisho “Roman-Kan” for shopping.  This building is an ex-city hall which was constructed in the Taisho Period (in 1923).   Then proceed to our hotel in West Kobe, connected to a huge shopping complex with Daiei Supermarket next and easy walking distance to Sogo Department Store, etc.  You can enjoy shopping before and after dinner.  


OCT. 4 (THU) SAKAI RIHGA ROYAL HOTEL SAKAI

Visit the Nada Sake Museum.  Nada is well known as the “center of sake production”.  Approximately one third of all sake produced in Japan comes from this area.  Enjoy the fine taste of the famous Nada Sake.  Visit the Danjiri Festival Museum in Kishiwada.  This festival is considered to be “one of the wildest and roughest festivals in Japan”.  We will watch a video with vigorous visual sound.  It gives you the sensation of the Danjiri Festival, a tradition ongoing for 300 years.  Also stop at the AEON Shopping Center for shopping and Lunch before going to our hotel in Sakai, Osaka.  After hotel check in “FREE TIME” to finish shopping packing etc.   (LUNCH and DINNER will be At Your Own Expense This Day).  We will give everyone a carton box for packing his or her gifts.  (2 Pieces Per Person Baggage Allowance.  Any excess will be paid for by the member).


OCT. 5 (FRI) HONOLULU                  {ONLY BREAKFAST IS INCLUDED THIS DAY}
