JUNE 30(THU) HONOLULU                                                                                                                       
Leave Honolulu Int’l Airport via Japan Airlines flight.  Lunch and a Snack will be served aboard the flight.  FREE MOVIES and DRINKS.

JULY 1(FRI) NARITA/CHITOSE (GRAND HOTEL NEW OJI)
Arrive at Narita Int’l Airport and after clearing government formalities, transfer to our connecting flight to Chitose, Hokkaido. Hokkaido has a cool climate and makes it a very popular tourist destination in July. Upon arrival, go directly to our urban resort hotel in Tomakomai.

JULY 2(SAT) OTARU (GRAND PARK OTARU)
Visit Northern Horse Park, a horse-themed nature park where you can interact with horses in vast area of 50 hectares. At the horse stable, staff will explain about ecology and type of  horses and we may encounter racing horses. Those who wish to, also get a chance to feed the horses. Later visit beautiful Yuni Garden, Japan’s biggest English style garden filled with a variety of flowers in season. See Rose, Linaria, etc. blooming magnificently in vast grounds (if timing is right). And store carries original jams, Herb teas, pickles, local souvenirs, etc.. Then head to Otaru, regarded as one of the most picturesque cities in Japan thanks to a romantic city scape steeped in rich history dating back to 19th century. We will stay at the five-star hotel connecting to a big shopping complex with Supermarket, Home center, 100 yen shop, etc. After check-in, free time to Holo Holo and shop around.

JULY 3(SUN) OTARU (GRAND PARK OTARU)
 Go to see the HOKKAI SORAN FESTIVAL, annual festival held in Yoichi, birthplace of famous “SORAN-BUSHI” folk song. This festival is featuring Traditional Dancing, Drum performance and delicious food stalls, etc. Then visit HERRING MANSION. The Herring fishing industry had a major role in the history of Otaru. This large mansion was built for wealthy fishermen. The power and wealth of fishermen during the height of the herring era is reflected in the historic residence. Then return to Otaru and stop at OTARU CANAL, a symbolic spot indicating the prosperity of the old days with well-preserved old warehouses lining the canal. 

JULY 4(MON) OTARU/LAKE TOYA (LAKE TOYA MANSEIKAKU HOTEL) (ONSEN)  ♨
Otaru still creates an atmosphere of the good old days with many western style buildings, nostalgic warehouses, etc. Enjoy strolling around SAKAIMACHI, an attractive, preserved merchant street. Visit OTARU GLASSWARE STORE, another trademark of Otaru. With brilliant and delicate glasses creating refreshing atmosphere. Here you can buy popular DRIPLESS SHOYU BOTTLE and other glass products. Also visit MUSIC BOX MUSEUM carrying a large collection of beautiful and intricate music boxes that can be purchased. Later have fun picking and tasting JAPANESE CHERRY in season. It’s different from American Cherries. Later visit KYOGOKU WATER PARK, located at the foot of spectacular MT. YOTEI (also known as Hokkaido MT. FUJI). A beautiful river runs through the park and there is a spout that dispenses water from Mt. Yotei. Taste one of the top 100 purest waters in Japan. We will stay at the resort hotel located amidt natural splendor by LAKE TOYA for 2 Nights. After enjoying DINNER WITH CRAB, enjoy LAKESIDE FIREWORKS from your room. Soak in the soothing HOTSPRING BATH AND OPEN AIR-BATH.

JULY 5(TUE) LAKE TOYA (LAKE TOYA MANSEIKAKU HOTEL) (ONSEN) ♨
Lake Toya is part of the National Park known for good hotsprings and active volcano “MT. USU” has been erupting repeatedly and last eruption was in 2000. Visit VOLCANO SCIENCE MUSEUM, with visual images of the eruption. Then we ride MT. USU ROPEWAY taking you up to observation overlooking one of the most active volcano up close with spirals of white smoke emanating. Also you will see another volcano “SHOW SHINZAN”. Afternoon, head to MARINE PARK NIXE in Noboribetsu. Hokkaido’s biggest aquarium in combination with Danish theme park. Enjoy spectacular show with 10,000 sardines swimming same direction together in the tank and colorful lighting operation gives refraction of the sardines that makes it look like Milky Way. Then return to hotel. Enjoy KAISEKI DINNER in the evening, with another chance to soak and relax in the hotspring bath.

JULY 6(WED) LAKE TOYA/JOZANKEI (JOZANKEI MANSEIKAKU HOTELMILIONE) (ONSEN) ♨
Go to SHIRAOI AINU VILLAGE. Ainu is aborigine in Hokkaido and you can see the Ainu culture and lifestyle shown in an outdoor reproduction of the Ainu Village. We will see traditional dance and singing that is listed on UNESCO’S INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF HUMANITY.  Then head to LAKE SHIKOTSU, one of the clearest and deepest lake in Japan. Take the sightseeing boat to enjoy the contrast of cobalt blue lake with surrounding mountains and greenery. The boat has underwater windows from which you can view the rough rocks and lake fishes at the bottom of the lake. Our hotel is located at JOZANKEI ONSEN. Good chance to RELAX and REFRESH in another HOTSPRING BATH AND OPEN-AIR BATH.

JULY 7(THU) JOZANKEI/ASHIBETSU (ASHIBETSU STAR LIGHT HOTEL) ♨
Visit OKURAYAMA SKI JUMP SITE used for ski jumping during the Sapporo Winter Olympic games in 1972. If you wish to you can try riding Ski lift to go up to observatory looking down Sapporo City. Head to Iwamizawa to visit ROSE GARDEN with 490 kinds of Roses blooming. This garden is a maximum rosary in Hokkaido. On a clear day, it will be pleasant strolling around the big Rose Garden. Later, enjoy driving on highway while viewing vast spreads of green fields along the way to SUNAGAWA HIGHWAY OASIS, a big shopping area where you can buy delicious local specialties of Hokkaido. Then head to ASHIBETSU, famous for high-quality hot springs which is the only ‘NATIONAL HEALTH HOTSPRING” in Hokkaido. Soaking and Refreshing in the nation insurance NATIONAL HEALTH HOTSPRING BATH and OPEN-AIR BATH.

JULY 8(FRI) ASHIBETSU / SHIROGANE ONSEN (HOTEL PARK HILLS) (ONSEN) ♨
Visit OTOKOYAMA SAKE BREWERY, makes “BEST SAKE IN HOKKAIDO”. Learn its history and taste their Fresh Sake! Then visit SNOW CRYSTAL MUSEUM, features a passageway with natural ice moldings and painted dome entitled “Northern Sky”. It’s gained popularity by reason of that its interiors are just like the ice palace featured in the Disney’s film “Frozen”. You may feel as if you’re stepping into Elsa’s Frozen World. Then visit YUKARAORI FOLKCRAFT MUSEUM. Yukaraori fabric is woven with the pattern based on nature of Hokkaido and all hand crafted by traditional loom. Enjoy shopping for their products. Proceed to BIEI, known for pleasant and picturesque rural landscapes created by hills with various fields. One of its highlights is a view of PATCHWORK HILL. A hillside covered with various colors of shrubbery. Then go to our hotel, located in SHIROGANE HOTSPRING TOWN. Upon arrival at the hotel, tour guide will take you to see beautiful Waterfall and emerald green river near the hotel. Good chance to RELAX and REFRESH IN THE HOTSPRING & OPEN-AIR ROTEN-BURO BATH.

JULY 9(SAT) SAHORO (SAHORO RESORT) ♨
In the morning, visit SHIKISAI FLOWER GARDEN, a panoramic flower garden where you can leap into the grand nature of Hokkaido. Enjoy amazing colors and fragrance of several dozen different flowers carpets on the hill. Then to FURANO, with its breathtaking LAVENDER FLOWERS in bloom. Visit TOMITA FARM, Hokkaido’s best lavender viewing spot. Enjoy a spectacular view of the magnificent ‘PURPLE CARPET” LAVENDER FIELDS with MT. DAISETSU and TOKACHI MOUNTAIN range as a backdrop. Later visit FURANO WINERY to enjoy tasting local Furano wine. This winery also has its own lavender field. This night’s accommodation is a nice resort hotel surrounded by nature with a hush. You can enjoy a big public bath and open-air bath (Sorry! Not a  Hotspring) and good chance to enjoy peaceful walking around the hotel in the morning.

JULY 10(SUN) SAHORO / SAPPORO (SAPPORO CENTURY ROYAL HOTEL)
Visit BEAR MOUNTAIN, where you will get a chance to see close up of the brown bear, the largest land animal in Japan. Here you can safely see them living in a real forest up close from a caged bus. At central observation point, big glass windows let you and bears eyeball each other. Stop at YUBARI, well known as ‘MELON KINGDOM” that produces high quality melons. Enjoy lunch with famous YUBARI MELON just in season. Then to HITSUJIGAOKA OBSERVATION HILL with its panoramic views of downtown SAPPORO. There is a statue of DR. CLARK, who is best known as the symbol of the frontier spirit of Hokkaido with the phrase “BOYS BE AMBITIOUS!”. Then head to SAPPORO, largest city in HOKKAIDO. Our hotel is located next to Sapporo Station with department stores and underground shopping mall. After check-in, we will take you Holo Holo to the shopping area.

JULY 11(MON) SAPPORO (SAPPORO CENTURY ROYAL HOTEL)
Go to ODORI PARK, located in the heart of Sapporo City. Beautified with colorful flower beds, green space, artistic statues, fountains, etc. Visit SAPPORO TV TOWER. From the 296 feet high observation deck, you can enjoy the beautiful seasonal view of Odori Park and panoramic view of the city and surrounding mountains. Then go to YURIGAHARA LILY PARK, to see 100 different species of Lilies blooming at the World Lily Garden. Then visit SAPPORO CENTRAL WHOLESALE MARKET, a popular spot for locals as well as tourist. You can buy Dried seafoods, local specialties, etc, at wholesale prices. Also visit a big AEON SHOPPING CENTER to enjoy shopping and lunch. Return to hotel and upon arrival, FREE TIME TO FINISH SHOPPING, PACKING, ETC. (LUNCH AND DINNER WILL BE AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE)                                    

JULY 12(TUE) SAPPORO/HONOLULU
At checkout time, our agents will come around to tape and tie-up the boxes and take the baggage’s to be checked-in down.  In the afternoon proceed to Chitose Airport to catch a Domestic Flight to Narita, Osaka or Nagoya Int’l Airport and transfer to a Japan Airlines International Flight to Honolulu, arriving the same morning, JULY 12, 2016 (TUESDAY).  After clearing U.S. Customs, proceed home.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR JOINING TOHOKU TRAVEL’S MAGNIFICENT NATURE IN HOKKAIDO TOUR #12!  Clients remaining back will be assisted in obtaining train, plane and hotel reservations.  Members may return to Honolulu individually, but no later than 3 months from day of departure.  Weekend returns will cost more per person.  Please call our office for more details if you are extending your stay in Japan.

{$225.00 Cancellation Fee charged by the airlines.}  Minimum stay is 3-Days and maximum stay is 3 Months.

RESPONSIBILITY:  The tour organizer or any travel agencies involved, act only as agents for the passengers in regards to travel, sightseeing, hotel and meal arrangements, and other tour services. The organizer/agency will accept no responsibility or liability in respect of either person or property for any loss, damage, injury, accident, delay or irregularity, however, occasioned, sustained, or suffered in or during any journey, trip, or tour, or in carrying out of any arrangements booked by or through it. 

If the agency becomes aware that a passenger has a special chronic health problem, the agency shall ensure that it is provided with a letter from the passenger’s personal physician stating the nature of such health problem and certifying that the passenger is physically fit to participate in the tour.  Also, in our endeavor to ensure congenial membership, we reserve the right to refuse the application of anyone and / or to expel from the tour, members whose conduct is incompatible with the interests of the tour.  Further, we reserve the right to refuse the application of any handicapped passenger if it is determined that such passenger would impede the schedule of the tour and greatly inconvenience the majority of tour members.  However, if a handicapped passenger accepted for the tour requires any form of special assistance, he/she must be accompanied by a qualified helper who takes total responsibility for the handicapped passenger’s well being.
