Arrive at Narita International Airport and after clearing government formalities, transfer by bus to hotel in Shin Urayasu, Chiba prefecture. Hotel is located within easy walking distance to train station and Big shopping complex with supermarket, 100 YEN shop, etc. After hotel check-in, tour guides will take you to station area where you can have fun shopping.
23 SEP (THU) MUSASHI HILL, SAITAMA,
HERITAGE RESORT (ONSEN) ♨
Proceed to Soka city, known as the most famous brand of Rice crackers in Japan. We will visit a Senbei (rice cracker) Factory, here you will enjoy Grilling your own Senbei and shopping. Then we will visit the newly opened in February 2020 Iwatsuki doll Museum. The museum exhibitions will show the history and culture of doll manufacturing in the area. This extensive collection features various dolls and toys from Japan and overseas. Then go to Gyoda to see the amazing World’s Largest Rice Paddy Art. This huge rice paddy art was created by carefully planting different varieties of rice. From ground level, the designs are invisible. However, from up inside the observatory you can see the entire image of the amazing artwork within the Rice Paddies. Then head to our hotel located in National Park surrounded by natural forest. They have lots of Onsen baths such as Jacuzzi, Zashiki (Tatami) Buro, etc. Enjoy your first Onsen Hot Spring bath of the tour!
24 SEP (FRI) KARUIZAWA,
KARUIZAWA PRINCE HOTEL WEST
Visit Nagatoro surrounded by breathtaking nature that is designated as National Place of Scenic Beauty. Enjoy River boating while catching the gorgeous view of the valley with its strangely shaped rocks while cruising down powerful rapids and gentle currents. Iwadatami is the rocks shape formation resembling overlapping layers of tatami mats. This breathtaking Nagatoro's symbol is naturally made beautiful work of art. Then head to Tomioka Silk Mill, registered as a World Heritage Site as Japan’s oldest modern model silk reeling factory established in 1872. We will look inside the well-preserved brick building which had been in operation until 1987. This historic factory is the starting point of Japan’s modernization. Then proceed to Karuizawa, thrived as Japan’s most popular upscale mountain resort area. Our hotel is located close to Prince Shopping Plaza, a huge outlet mall offers a wide range of shopping opportunities. After hotel check-in, enjoy Holo Holo and shopping.

In the morning, visit Shiraito Waterfall, a gorgeous waterfall of 10 feet high and 230 feet wide. The sight of water falling in sliver slender streaks appearing like hundreds of white threads is certainly magnificent. Later visit Karuizawa Ginza Shopping Street, at the main center of town. It has a pleasant atmosphere with respectable old stores, Souvenir shop, Bakery, etc., standing side by side. Then visit Onioshidashi Park that features stark landscape of volcanic lava formed by the big eruption of Mt. Asama in 1783. Take a closer look at the volcanic rocks of various bizarre shapes and impressive panoramic site created by mother nature. Then head to Kusatsu, one of Japan’s most famous hot spring resorts because of its high-quality hot spring water said to cure every illness. Upon arrival those who wish to visit Yubatake (hot spring field) “the symbol-existence of Kusatsu” we will have to catch a hotel bus. Here we will see the famous Yumomi Show. Enjoy traditional Kusatsu folk song and dance while stirring the bathwater with large wooden paddles. Soak and Relax in Onsen Hot spring bath and Open-Air Bath of “One of the Best Three Onsen Hot springs in Japan”. Also available at your own expense Private Onsens.

Enjoy driving along the Shiga-Kusatsu Scenic Road viewing the volcanic peaks while seeing magnificent panoramic mountain scenery. This route is richly immersed with nature at the highest point of 7125 feet among the National Routes in Japan. Autumn colors can be seen early around here. Then visit Mayumi Takahashi Doll Museum. Life in the Japanese countryside is authentically recreated with elaborate dolls. These heartwarming dolls take you into a quaint rural world in Japan. Then head to Kurohime Heights. If timing is right, we will see Cosmos blooming around the huge ski ground. (Blooming level depends on climate of the year). Our hotel sits on a magnificent highland that overlooking the majestic and impressive mountain scenery. The annual Illumination festival is held during this season. At night, you can walk through “One of the World’s largest light displays” that covers a large area of ground in front of the hotel.

Go to Nagano, the symbolic mountain resort area which is home to many of Japan’s highest mountain peaks. We will enjoy Apple Picking in season. Nagano is the 2nd largest producer of Apple in Japan and Nagano Apple is well-known for its fresh taste, sweetness, vibrant color, and juiciness. Then go to “Zenkoji temple” one of Nagano’s main attraction as Japan’s primary center of Buddhist faith for over 1400 years. This National Treasure’s Main hall is nicely ornamented and praised as a "Masterpiece of Buddhist architecture." Then stop at Kinasa, a secluded small town nestled in mountains. The town is known for delicious “Oyaki bun”, one of the most famous local foods of Nagano. You will get a chance to try this nutritiously balanced snack consist of a buckwheat bun stuffed with local vegetables or anko bean paste. Then head to Hakuba, situated in the heart of breathtaking beautiful Northern Japan Alps therefore considered Japan’s premier alpine resort destination. Enjoy the Hot Spring Bath and Open-Air Bath where you can be a part of nature in the Japan Alps.

Hakuba was chosen as “1 of Japan’s 36 most stunning places” by CNN. In the morning, we will stop at a good photo spot where you can see the beautiful view of the Northern Japan Alps. Then ride a Gondola lift to get a breathtaking view of sky-high mountains. Later visit Daio Wasabi Farm (Japanese Horse-Radish Farm). Enjoy strolling around Wasabi fields and shopping for Wasabi products at the “Biggest Wasabi Farm in Japan”. Then visit Daisekkei Sake Brewery that produce high quality Sake using pure water from the Japan Alps and locally grown rice. Later head to Matsumoto, a tranquil old castle town nestled by the Japan Alps. We will stay at a lovely hotel located just a couple blocks from the Castle and shopping street. You will get a chance to walk and visit Nawate-dori shopping street. Here you will have the feeling of an old castle town lined with around 40 shops including antique shops, candy stores, Senbei Rice cracker shop, etc.

Head to Kamikochi, praised as one of the most scenic spots in Japan, which is surrounded by towering peaks of 10,000 feet high mountains. Pass by Taisho Pond to visit the “Kappa Bridge” (a suspension bridge) over the crystal-clear water. It is the best example of how mother nature blessed Japan. Nagano is famous for its Shinshu Miso dating back over 100 years made by many premium miso manufacturers. Visit Ishii Miso Factory that has been producing miso by a unique traditional natural method since 1868. See the process of making this local Shinshu Miso. You can sample their Miso soup and purchase their products. For those who would like to visit Matsumoto Castle, designated as National Treasure. The oldest castle donjon (keep) remaining in Japan that has been praised as the one of the most complete and beautiful among Japan’s original castles.

Visit Yamabe winery producing a “Genuine” Japanese Wine made from 100% Nagano grapes. They have won numerous consecutive awards at Japan Wine Competitions. You can enjoy tastings along with a beautiful view of the Northern Japan Alps and a country wine valley. Then go to Narai-juku old town, a picture-perfect small town registered as one of the most important traditional building conservation areas in Japan. Strolling the enchanting main street that resemble a historic film set that contain a variety of wooden surfaces and old Edo-style buildings that is surrounded by the forest and mountains create a spectacular backdrop. Also visit Kanten Papa Garden. Kanten (agar) is a Japanese traditional food made from seaweed. You will see various healthy, tasty, and easy to prepare Kanten products such as instant soup, gelatin, pudding, etc. Later head to our hotel. This lovely mountain resort hotel is secluded by forest. Enjoy a relaxing soak at the Onsen hot spring bath.
1 OCT (FRI) TOYOHASHI,

In the morning, ride the Komagane Ropeway, that will carry you 3,117 feet high into the sky. From an altitude of 8,570 feet, you will enjoy a superb panoramic view of the Southern and Northern Japan Alps, Mt. Fuji (Weather permitting). If timing is right Autumn colors should be in season. Along the slope at heights of over 8,000 feet will welcome you to a colorful interwoven tapestry of golden, orange, and red leaves from the mountain ash trees. Then visit a fruit farm to enjoy Berry Daifuku-mochi making. Make your own Berry Daifuku (Soft tender mochi with sweet anko wrapped around strawberry and blueberry) you can eat what you make with tea. Then proceed to Toyohashi. Our hotel is located right next to MEGA Don Quijote shopping mall. You can enjoy shopping before and after dinner.
2 OCT (SAT) TOYOHASHI,

Visit Toyokawa Inari Shrine, one of Japan’s big 3 Inari Shrine worships the fox as a god of business prosperity and family well-being. You will see thousands of stone foxes and carvings throughout this picturesque precinct. This interesting and unique place is very enchanting as well as mysterious. Later enjoy shopping at Laguna Ten Bosch, a big shopping complex that carries a variety of local specialties including dried seafood, local snacks, sweets, etc. Then main snack in this area is Ebi Senbei (Shrimp Chips). You can sample many different flavors and purchase what you liked. Later enjoy shopping and lunch at Aeon Shopping Center. Upon hotel arrival, Free time to continue shopping and packing. (Lunch & dinner will be at your own expense.)
3 OCT (SUN) TOYOHASHI / HONOLULU
At checkout time our agent will come to tape and tie-up the boxes and take the baggage to be checked-in down. In the afternoon proceed to Chubu (Centrair) International Airport to catch Airline Flight # in the evening to Honolulu. Arrive in Honolulu the same morning, 3 OCT (SUN) After clearing U.S. Customs, proceed home. (Lunch & dinner will be at your own expense.)
Clients remaining back will be assisted in obtaining plane, train, and hotel reservations. Members may return to Honolulu individually, but no later than 90 days from day of departure. Weekend returns will cost more per person. Please call our office if you are extending your stay. MAHALO!
