Arrive at Chitose International Airport in Hokkaido after clearing government formalities we will head go directly to our hotel in Chitose city (15 minutes by bus from the airport). We will stay two nights at this hotel located right next to a Supermarket.
29 SEP (THU) CHITOSE / SHIRAOI,
ANA CROWNE PLAZA CHITOSE
Today we will visit the 1st National Museum in Hokkaido, newly built in July 2020 National Ainu Museum and Park. Here you can immerse yourself in the culture of the indigenous Ainu people or the aborigines in Hokkaido. You will get a chance to experience various aspects of Ainu culture and lifestyle at this Open-air Museum. We will see a traditional Ainu Dance and Singing that is registered as a UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. We will next visit Takino National Government Park to see the Cosmos festival that will be held during this time of season. If timing is right over 700,000 magnificent cosmoses will be in bloom throughout the park. This vast 988-acre park has a colorful flower garden, waterfalls, forest, etc. This is a perfect place for a stroll and take in all of Hokkaido’s gorgeous nature. Then go to Lake Shikotsu 1 of 2 most prominent features of Shikotsu-Toya National Park. This lake is well known for the clarity of serene blue water and beautiful surrounding mountains. You will see spectacular natural views of Hokkaido’s pristine lake. Afterwards head back to our hotel to enjoy shopping.
30 SEP (FRI) OBIHIRO,
HOTEL NIKKO NORTH LAND OBIHIRO
Go to Yubari in central Hokkaido. We will visit Cinema Town back in 1977 the movie “Yellow Handkerchief” a modern Japanese masterpiece that was remade by Hollywood in 2008 was filmed here. The original movie set has been preserved and is an interesting open-air museum which provides a unique first-hand glimpse into the making of one of Japan’s greatest movie classics. Then head to Obihiro in the center of Tokachi plain that spreads out with numerous farms of soybeans, sugar beets, potatoes, and dairy farming in a large-scale production as their main commerce. Visit the Sugar Beet Museum here you get a firsthand experience about the Sugar Beet production one of the most important crops in Tokachi region. We will stay 2 nights at this hotel which is located next to Obihiro train station and shopping center is walking distance.
1 OCT (SAT) OBIHIRO,

In the morning, enjoy shopping at Ryugetsu Sweet Pia Garden to sample and purchase one of the most popular souvenirs in Obihiro “Sanporoku” a kind of layered cake covered with chocolate which won gold medal at World Sweets Expo. Later enjoy peaceful stroll through Manabe Garden, a beautiful flower garden mixed with Japanese and European style. It would be right season we can see beautiful Autumn color. You can immerse yourself in exceptional beauty while wandering around the charming garden. Later visit Boya Farm the biggest Sheep farm in Japan, to see their Sheep dog show. Enjoy an impressive working sheep dog demonstration on the massive farmland. Then visit Obihiro Banba Horse Racetrack. Banba is a dynamic and exciting horserace which draft horses pull heavy sleds up sandy ramps. This race was originally started as a horsepower contest in the pioneer days of Hokkaido. After going back to our hotel, you can enjoy shopping or just rest.
2 OCT (SUN) LAKE AKAN,
NEW AKAN HOTEL (ONSEN) ♨
Visit Okamedo Beans shop that carry local beans, “Ama-natto” beans covered with refined sugar, dried flavored beans, etc. Enjoy shopping for famous Tokachi beans! Then proceed to Tancho Crane Nature Park to see symbolic bird of Japan “Tancho” the Japanese Red-headed Crane and officially designated as a living Japanese monument and its habitat is only around the area. These cranes are snowy white, with black tipped wings and a bright red throat and head, is the biggest and most majestic birds of Japan. Then go to Lake Akan, 1 of Hokkaido’s well-known tourist attractions where you can enjoy an endless view of nature. We will enjoy taking a Sightseeing boat Cruise on lake Akan. We will see untouched forest that illustrates unspoiled beauty with Autumn color (Expected to be right timing). Our hotel is located by the lake. Enjoy a relaxing soak on the top floor at the Onsen Hot Spring Bath. They have "Infinity Edge Open Air Bath". You will look as if the hot spring bath water and Lake Akan become united while soaking in the bath.
3 OCT (MON) SHIRETOKO,
SHIRETOKO DAIICHI HOTEL (ONSEN) ♨
Go to Salmon Science Museum, that contains more than 30 kinds of salmon from all over the world. This is the right season that Salmon comes back from ocean to the river to lay the eggs. We will see wild salmon swimming in an actual river. The World Heritage-recognized region of Shiretoko Peninsula is the last pristine wilderness remaining in Japan. Stop at Rausu where Kunashiri Island the Russian held island that can be seen on a clear beautiful day. Then drive along the beautiful Shiretoko Pass to get to our hotel that we will be staying for 2 nights. Enjoy Big Buffet Dinner which ranked as “Best buffet in Hokkaido” with 80 kinds of dishes including Crab, Local Seafood Sashimi, Scallop, Sushi, Tempura, etc. Enjoy a relaxing soak at Onsen Hot Spring Bath and Open-Air Bath where you can enjoy a panoramic view. A Private Onsen is available at your own expense.
4 OCT (TUE) SHIRETOKO / ABASHIRI,
SHIRETOKO DAIICHI HOTEL (ONSEN) ♨
Enjoy the morning sightseeing the “Land of outstanding natural beauty” Shiretoko National Park, one of the most beautiful and unspoiled national parks in Japan. Visit Shiretoko 5 Lakes small quiet picturesque lakes surrounded by wild forest. This place is great to experience a vast abundance of nature within Shiretoko. Then visit Shiretoko Nature Center to learn about the four seasons of Shiretoko by an original movie on a 40 ft. by 65 ft. giant movie screen. It will show the frigid winter scenes you would normally never see. Then go to Abashiri Prison Museum where you can learn about the socio-political history of Japan. It served as a working prison until 1984 and was Japan’s most notorious and most feared prison. You can learn and experience the daily life of the prisoners through several buildings and structures of the old prison. Also visit the Oshin Koshin Waterfall, selected as 1 of 8 picturesque spots of Shiretoko that should not miss. This tall and magnificent waterfall is also called “Twin Beauties Waterfall” because the flow of water is split into two halfway down. You will get a glimpse of Mother Nature at work with Shiretoko.
5 OCT (WED) SOUNKYO GORGE,
CHOYOTEI (ONSEN) ♨
Today we will visit the Museum of The Northern People here we will see the fascinating world of the native people who live in the subarctic regions of Eurasia and America through many exhibitions. Later visit the Fresh Water Aquarium that is a popular tourist attraction in Hokkaido. See the amazing largest freshwater fish of Japan the “Ito” or the Japanese Huchen swimming in a large water tank. Later enjoy driving along Sounkyo Gorge this spectacular giant gorge consisting of 300 ft. cliffs that stretches over 15 Miles. We will view the unusual rock formations along the gorge will be filled with Autumn Color which is expected during this time. We will visit the another highlights the 390 ft. high cascading waterfall of “Ryusei” or Shooting Star and “Ginga” or Galaxy Waterfalls. Our hotel is at the foot of Mt. Taisetsu with magnificent views right from your room. Enjoy a relaxing soak in the Onsen Hot Spring Bath and Open-Air Roten Buro Bath.
6 OCT (THU) ASAHIKAWA,

Then head to Daisetsuzan National Park, Japan’s largest National Park that preserves a mountainous area of virtually unspoiled wilderness. We will ride up Mt. Kurodake by Kurodake Ropeway to the 5th station at 6,509 ft. high offering a superb view of great nature. Here is one of the earliest spots in Japan to see Autumn colors. You will see superb view of beautiful autumn colors carpet from ropeway cart. Then head to Asahikawa, Hokkaido’s 2nd largest city to visit its featured attraction “Asahiyama Zoo.” This very popular zoological garden is rated as the most innovative zoo in Japan because of its unique observation viewing facilities. With an amazing recreation of the animal’s natural habit for a life like view of their animals. There are about 150 species of animals that can be seen like Tiger, Chimpanzee, Polar bear, Lion, Penguin, etc. Then we will visit Otokoyama Sake Brewery here we will see where the “Best Sake in Hokkaido” is brewed and taste their Freshest Sake which you can purchase. Tonight’s hotel is located close to Asahikawa station and Aeon Shopping Mall. After arriving back to our hotel guides will take you “Holo-Holo” around our hotel. Enjoy a relaxing soak in the Onsen Hot Spring Bath.
7 OCT (FRI) SAPPORO,

Drive through Biei, surrounded by a pleasant hilly landscape, to enjoy a view of Patchwork Hill. This hillside will be covered with various colors of shrubbery appearing like a huge patchwork quilt. This breathtaking view of the picturesque and beautiful hills makes this “One of the most popular sightseeing spots in Hokkaido.” Next visit Shikisai Flower Garden, a panoramic flower garden where you can leap into Hokkaido’s grandeur of nature. Then go to Furano, an attractive destination in Hokkaido known for its pleasant and picturesque rural landscapes. We will visit Farm Tomita with a pleasant view of the autumn season colors with red and yellow flowers such as Marigold and Salvia will fill their fields. Then head to our hotel that is located next to Sapporo station with Department Store and Underground Shopping Mall. After hotel check in, tour guides will take you "Holo-Holo" to shopping area around the hotel.
8 OCT (SAT) SAPPORO,

In the morning we will go to Hoheikyo Dam filled with Autumn color that is expected during this time. This area is a renowned sight for beautiful autumn color. When in season, the whole ravine becomes a canvas of colorful leaves. Later stop at Aeon Shopping Mall for shopping and lunch. We will also visit Sapporo Central Wholesale Market. Here you can buy dried seafood items, local specialties, etc., all at wholesale prices. Then we will head back to the hotel. Upon hotel arrival you will have free time to shop for last minute items or packing etc. (Lunch / Dinner will be at your own expense.)
9 OCT (SUN) SAPPORO / HONOLULU,
At checkout time, our agents will come around to tape and tie-up the boxes and take the baggage’s to be checked-in downstairs. In the afternoon by bus to Chitose International Airport to catch Hawaiian Airlines flight to Honolulu arriving the same morning, 9 OCT (Sunday) After clearing U.S. customs, proceed home. Lunch at your own expense / Dinner on the plane.
Clients remaining back will be assisted in obtaining plane, train, and hotel reservations. Members may return to Honolulu individually, but no later than 90 days from day of departure. Weekend returns will cost more per person. Please call our office if you are extending your stay. MAHALO!
