Arrive at Narita Int’l Airport and after government formalities, transfer to your connecting flight to Chitose Airport in Hokkaido. Upon arrival, go directly to the hotel (15 minutes by bus from the airport).
7 FEB (MON) SAPPORO,
SAPPORO TOKYU REI HOTEL
In the morning go to the shoe store to buy snowshoes before heading to Lake Shikotsu to see the amazing “Hyoto Ice Festival” with massive ice sculptures made with water from the lake. You will be impressed by the marvelous colored ice sculptures which are called “Shikotsu blue.” Then visit Asahi Beer Brewery learning the process of making Asahi Super Dry and taste the freshly brewed Beer! Then proceed to Sapporo, Hokkaido’s largest city. Hotel is conveniently located just a minute’s walk from downtown Susukino and a 2-minute subway ride to Odori Park to visit the world famous 72nd Sapporo Snow Festival. After dinner, you can go to the Festival site and enjoy the Projection Mapping show as well as the wonderful night view of the illuminated snow structures and ice statues.
8 FEB (TUE) ASAHIKAWA,

Fully enjoy one of the most adorable and amazing events in Japan, “Sapporo Snow Festival,” Due to the coronavirus conditions, the festival is planned to be without huge snow sculptures. However, hundreds of different size ice sculptures and snow statues ranging from small to large will leave you in amazement. Then head to Asahikawa. Hokkaido’s 2nd largest city filled with natural splendor. On the way, enjoy shopping at “Sunagawa Highway Oasis” with a large variety of delicious local specialties in Hokkaido. We will visit Asahikawa Winter Festival, to see the famous “Guinness Book of World Records” Gigantic snow statue. You can enjoy strolling around the winter wonderland, and you can slide down a huge ice slide if you like.
9 FEB (WED) LAKE SAROMA,
LAKE SAROMA TSURUGA RESORT (ONSEN) ♨
Visit the most world-renowned Sake brewery “Otokoyama” with a 350-year history. We will see the place where the “Best Sake in Hokkaido” is brewed and learn the history and enjoy tasting their Fresh Sake! Afterward head to Asahikawa Winter Amusement Park to enjoy the ultimate winter fun. Riding on the winter version of the Banana Boat, Snow Rafting, etc. (for those who want to). Then head to Eastern Hokkaido or “Do-to” a popular tourist spots and highlights can only be experienced here. Go to beautiful Lake Saroma Hokkaido’s largest lake with its abundant nature. We will stay at fantastic resort hotel perfectly situated among Hokkaido’s magnificent natural beauty. You will see Frozen lake (depends on temperature of the year) from your room. Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner featuring local seafood, etc. Also soaking and relaxing in Onsen Hot Spring bath and Open-air Bath with beautiful wintry lake view.
10 FEB (THU) SHIRETOKO,

In the morning, visit Cha-Cha World Doll Museum, filled with over 10,000 wooden toys including puppets, nutcracker dolls and mechanical toys from 40 different countries. This incredible Shadowgraph Gallery is worth to see. The masterfully crafted splendid pieces of art with light and shadow take you into vibrant fantasy world. Then go to a World Natural Heritage site Shiretoko Peninsula one of Japan's most beautiful and unspoiled National Parks. The winter wonderland scenery of ice and white snow is breathtaking. View the beautiful Ice Floe scenery along the way (Weather Permitting) to the Oshin-Koshin Waterfall, selected as “One of the 100 most beautiful waterfalls in Japan.” You can see the partly frozen falls with a beautiful winter surroundings. In the evening, enjoy a Big Buffet Dinner awarded as the “Best buffet in Hokkaido” with a variety of Local Seafood, Crab, Scallop, Sushi, Tempura, Steak, etc. Another good chance to soak and warm up your body in the Hot Spring Bath and Open-air Bath with a panoramic view of Shiretoko.
11 FEB (FRI) SHIRETOKO,

Go to Abashiri a prime site for observing the huge Ice Floes only during certain time of winter. We will ride an Icebreaker Boat to see the Ice Floes up close (It depends on circumstances of weather, temperature, tide, wind, etc.). The thickness and amount of Ice Floes has decreased quite considerably due to global warming. It’s better to visit as early as you can. Otherwise, No more chance! Later visit Okhotsk Ice Floe Museum. You can experience the beautiful World of Drift Ice through a new 3-D projection mapping with an illusionary effected light and sound display. You will get a chance to see and touch a piece of Drift ice in the freezing experience room that’s kept at 5 degree Fahrenheit. You can experience how cold it can be in Abashiri in winter. Soak and Relax in the Hot Spring Bath and Open-air Bath! Private Onsen bath is available (your own expense).
12 FEB (SAT) LAKE AKAN,

This morning we will go to Akan-Mashu National Park offers a vast landscape comprising Japan’s largest caldera landform, volcanoes, forests, and lakes. Visit Lake Kussharo which is chosen as “One of Japan’s 36 most beautiful places” by CNN. It will be perfect timing when a large flock of whooper swans that migrate from Russia along the lake’s shoreline. This breathtaking landscape consisting of swans, frozen lake and white mountain backdrop is praised as “the Most beautiful lake shore of swans”. We will visit mystical Lake Mashu which is considered by many to be “Japan’s most beautiful lake” because of its tranquil beauty. During the winter, trees are covered with snow and ice line the lake shore and stand in stunning contrast to the blue surface of the lake (Weather Permitting). Later head to hotel located beside Lake Akan. The lake completely freezes over in winter and the Frozen Lake Festival is held on the lake. You will get a chance to enjoy numerous winter activities such as fishing on the frozen lake, ice skating, snowmobile, etc. (Optional). After another Big Buffet Dinner, you can enjoy Fireworks on the frozen lake from your room. Enjoy Hot Spring bath to warm you up.
13 FEB (SUN) MAKUBETSU,
TOKACHI MAKUBETSU ONSEN GRANDVRIO HOTEL (ONSEN) ♨
In the morning, visit an Ainu village to see their Dance & Singing Show. Ainu are the Aborigines in Hokkaido. These dance rituals have been designated as an Important National Intangible Cultural Property. Then go to International Crane Center to see “Tancho” the Japanese Red-headed Cranes, designated officially as living Japanese Monument and its habitat is only around this area. See these beautiful cranes dancing elegantly spreading their huge wings. Then proceed to Obihiro. This region is called “Tokachi” also known as the “Real Hokkaido.” Visit Ryugetsu Sweet Pia Garden to sample and purchase one of the most popular souvenirs in Obihiro “Sanporoku” a type of Baumkuchen (German style cake roll) a kind of layered cake covered with chocolate which won the “Gold Medal at World Sweets Expo.” Then head to our hotel in Makubetsu Onsen, 1 of only 2 hot spring resorts in the world that use Moor hot spring water. It is said to have neuralgia, muscle pain, dermatitis, and beauty benefits. Soak in the famous Onsen hot spring bath and Open-air bath. Private Onsen are available (own expense).
14 FEB (MON) SAPPORO,
CENTURY ROYAL HOTEL
Head to Lake Shikaribetsu the highest altitude lake in Hokkaido is known as the “Lake in the sky”. We will visit the Ice village which appears only in winter on the frozen lake. This will be a special experience of several buildings made from ice and snow including the “Ice bar” where you can order a drink (Own expense) and enjoy it sitting on ice chairs inside a building made of ice. The magnificent scenery of the frozen lake and snow-covered mountains will leave a lasting impression. Later head back to Sapporo as our hotel is located next to Sapporo station with department store and underground shopping mall. After hotel check in tour guides will take you to nearby shopping. In the evening we will head out to downtown Sapporo to experience an Izakaya dinner. Izakaya is a Japanese style bar where you can experience the ambiance of where the locals go and eat local foods to unwind after a hard day of work. So, tonight enjoy a relaxing and unforgettable time in Sapporo.
15 FEB (TUE) SAPPORO,
CENTURY ROYAL HOTEL
In the morning go to Sapporo Wholesale Market where you can buy dried sea foods, local specialties, processed foods, etc., at the wholesale price. Later head to Yoichi a fascinating town called “Town of Whiskey.” We will visit Nikka Whiskey Distillery. Their whiskies are world renowned as the “World’s best single malt whiskies” that won several awards. Founder Masataka Taketsuru and his wife Rita serve as the model for the TV drama “Massan” that attracts tourists worldwide. After going back to the hotel enjoy Free Time to continue shopping, packing etc. (Lunch and Dinner will be at your own expense.)
16 FEB (WED) SAPPORO / HONOLULU
At checkout time our agent will come to tape and tie-up our boxes and take down baggage to be checked in. We will leave the hotel by bus to Chitose Airport to catch our domestic flight to Narita Int’l Airport. Upon arrival at Narita, transfer to International Airline Flight # to Honolulu. Arrive in Honolulu the same morning, 16 FEB (WED) After clearing U.S. Customs, proceed home. (Lunch and Dinner will be at your own expense.)
Clients remaining back will be assisted in obtaining plane, train, and hotel reservations. Members may return to Honolulu individually, but no later than 90 days from day of departure. Weekend returns will cost more per person. Please call our office if you are extending your stay. MAHALO!
