NOV. 1 (SUN) HONOLULU,
Leave Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. Japan Airline Flight Departing Honolulu. A meal and snack will be served aboard the flight. Free Movies and Drinks.
NOV. 2 (MON) HANEDA,
HOTEL VILLA FONTAINE GRAND HANEDA AIRPORT
Arrive at Haneda International Airport and after clearing entry formalities, walk to hotel that is directly connected to International Terminal Building. This hotel has a comfortable approach to multiple restaurants, shops and 24 hours open convenience store. After hotel check-in, enjoy Holo-Holo and dinner at the terminal building.
NOV. 3 (TUE) MIYAZAKI,
ANA HOLIDAY INN RESORT MIYAZAKI (ONSEN) ♨
Catch free shuttle bus to domestic terminal building to catch flight to Miyazaki in Kyushu. Upon arrival, visit Aoshima Island, a National Special Natural Monument with unusual wavy rock formation called Oni-no Sentakuita (Ogre’s washboard), with stripe patterns that show up at low tide. These perfectly straight rows of rock look as if they were manmade. We will stay 2 nights at popular resort hotel overlooking the Hyuganada sea. Soak and Relax in Onsen Hot Spring bath and Open air bath overlooking with beautiful view of Hyuga Nada Sea.
NOV. 4 (WED) MIYAZAKI,
ANA HOLIDAY INN RESORT MIYAZAKI (ONSEN) ♨
Go to Saitobaru, a National Historic Site where more than 300 burial mounds from 4th ~ 7th century that are scattered around which is the largest site in Japan. We will visit Archaeological Museum displaying excavated artifacts from the tombs taking you back to ancient time in Japan. At Saitobaru Guidance Center, we will enjoy seeing 30,000 cosmos annuary blooming at this season. (blooming level depending on the climate of the year). After enjoying local cuisine of Miyazaki, enjoy Shochu (distilled alcohol) Distillery tour at Aya Shizengura Kengakukan, to learn shochu and beer production. End of the tour enjoy tasting their product (Shochu, Beer, Soft Drink).
NOV. 5 (THU) KIRISHIMA,
HOTEL KYOCERA (ONSEN) ♨
Visit Sun Messe Nichinan, A seaside park sits on a hill with 7 impressive Moai Sculptures against back ground of Hyuga Nada Sea. These sculptures are the only replica in the world with permission from Rapa Nui (Easter Island) after a Japanese restoration team spent three years helping to repair fifteen of the statues there. Visit Obi Castle Town. You can visit Yoshokan, a residence of the lord of Obi domain with its traditional style Japanese garden registered as cultural property of Nichinan city. Here, those who wish to, try Japanese archery (Kyudo) by shooting bow against the target. After entering Kagoshima, visit Uenohara Jomon-no Mori where 767 clay potteries, stone tools, etc., from Jomon period (7,500 years ago) are excavated. Visit its museum exhibiting real potteries, tools, etc., and learn how the life was in Jomon period with well-made diorama. Our hotel has Onsen Hot Spring bath with natural onsen pumped up 3,400ft directly beneath the hotel.
NOV. 6 (FRI) IBUSUKI,
IBUSUKI HAKUSUIKAN (ONSEN) ♨
Visit Kurozu-no Sato Kakuida who has been producing Black Vinegar for 200 years by utilizing climate condition of the sunlight, wind, rain and sometimes volcanic ashes. Their products made of brown rice give you good blood pressure, clean blood vessel, fatigue decrease, adult disease reduction and good internal chemical balance. We will lean their production, try tasting and enjoy shopping. Then head to Sakurajima, one of World's most active volcanoes which minor eruptions often take place multiple times per day. You can feel the power of the nature that spewing steam up close. After landing Sakurajima, catch a ferry to Kagishima city to head to Ibusuki, the southern most resort area in Kyushu. On the way to get there stop at Ariyoshi Yakusugi Cedar Center who carries big selection of wood crafts made of Yakusugi Cedar that are the primitive species growing in Yakushima island and most of them are over 1,000 years old. We will see rare and valuable collection of world renowned Satsuma pottery at Satsuma Denshokan. This traditional craft of Japan has over 400 years history and admired by Westerners as finely detailed art seems almost superhuman technique since 19th century. Stay at Ibusuki Onsen Hotel known for Steam Sand Baths (covering your body with the sand which is warmed by the natural hot springs).
NOV. 7 (SAT) KAGOSHIMA,
SHIROYAMA HOTEL KAGOSHIMA (ONSEN) ♨
Head to Chiran a small town with rich history called “Small Kyoto” to visit Kamikaze Fighter Museum, dedicated to the lives and deaths of 1,036 suicide Kamikaze fighters. They have thousands of exhibition including photographs of the pilots, personal effects, such as hachimaki headbands, Hinomaru flags, etc. Later on enjoy peaceful strolling at the graceful Samurai residential area that is selected as the Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings. You can visit immaculate gardens are designated as a National Cultural Asset by being evaluated as a place of scenic beauty. Next head to Kawanabe Butsudan (Buddhist altar) Hall to try your hand on making “Raden” accessory. Raden is a traditional craft creating beautiful rainbow luster by putting previously designed shell into surface of the lacquer or wood and often used for decoration of Butsudan, Festival float, etc. We will stay 2 nights at the luxury hotel located on hill top overlooking magnificent Sakurajima, the symbol of Kagoshima. Soak in relaxing Onsen Hot Spring bath while viewing Sakurajima. This hotel offers shuttle bus frequently running back and forth between Train station where you can enjoy shopping for local goodies and souvenirs of Kagoshima.
NOV. 8 (SUN) KAGOSHIMA,
SHIROYAMA HOTEL KAGOSHIMA (ONSEN) ♨
Today we will visit the Museum of Meiji Restoration, you can learn about dramatic history of the Meiji Restoration that is called “the end of Samurai era” with robotic show including Takamori Saigo appearing with English translation. Visit Saigo Memorial Museum introducing life and achievements of “Last Samurai” Saigo Takamori who is the central figure of the Meiji Restoration in 1867 to 1868 drive to modernize Japan. Museum exhibits his possessions, clothing, his handwritten diary, personal letters, etc. You can also visit Saigo’s grave at Nanshu Cemetery where he’s buried with 2000 of his fellows. After enjoying lunch and shopping at Aeon Shopping Mall, go to Amami-no Sato where you can learn about culture and nature of Amami Island, Japan’s latest World Natural Heritage Site. You will see beautiful Oshima Tsumugi Textile and Amami style traditional garden.
NOV. 9 (MON) SATSUMA SENDAI,
HOTEL GREEN HILL KAGOSHIMA (ONSEN) ♨
Visit 367-years old Senganen Garden. This World Cultural Heritage Sites constructed with fine design and has a refined taste, using Kinko bay to resemble the pond and Sakurajima island as the miniature mountain of the garden. Later visit Marutake Samurai armor factory producing traditional Samurai amour at the present day. This company became world famous because they made Samurai helmet that Shohei Otani crowned when he played for the Los Angeles Angels. You will see collection of their amours including ones actually used in Samurai movies and TV dramas. Soak in relaxing Onsen Hot Spring bath and Open air bath.
NOV. 10 (TUE) AMAKUSA,
HOTEL ALEGRIA GARDENS AMAKUSA (ONSEN) ♨
go to Izumi city to watch “Nabe-Zuru (Hooded Crane)” that annually comes from Russia. About 10,000 cranes stay here during winter. It is representing more than 80% of the world population of this species. Then catch a ferry (30minutes) to Ushibuka. Go to another World Heritage site Sakitsu Village, one of the places of the Hidden Christian Sites kept their faith alive in secret through centuries of persecution and suppression. We will visit Sakitsu Church, a symbol of the village and the Christian revival. It will be interesting to see a beautiful example of a mix of Western and Japanese culture that is a Gothic-looking church with traditional tatami flooring inside. Then head to Amakusa by driving through the "one of the 100 Best Scenic Roads in Japan", Amakusa Pearl Line with the five bridges which praised as like a string of the pearl-like islands. We will stay Spa Resort hotel has relaxing Onsen Hot Spring bath and Open Air bath. Private Onsen is available at your own expense also!
NOV. 11 (WED) KUMAMOTO,
ONE STATION HOTEL KUMAMOTO
We will visit Amakusa Christian Museum introduces Amakusa Shiro who was the teenage leader of famous Christian peasant uprising in 1637 against Edo Shogunate that was prohibiting Christianity. Pearl farming is one of Amakusa’s main industries so that can not miss chance for shopping beautiful pearl products including accessory at Pearl Center. Then visit Misumi West Port. This 140 years old historic masonry-stone wharf has been designated as “World Heritage Sites” as an important and unique national legacy of Japan’s era of industrial modernization. We will stay 2 nights at hotel which is located across Kumamoto station with 2021 opened shopping mall with 100 yen shop, supermarket, souvenir shop, etc.
NOV. 12 (THU) KUMAMOTO,
ONE STATION HOTEL KUMAMOTO
Enjoy shopping and lunch at Aeon shopping mall popular shopping complex where there are Restaurants alley, Food Court, Super Market, 100 yen shop, etc. Afterwords, visit Tsujun Bridge that was constructed in 1854 to let water flow into a higher area for farming. We will be there when the bridge discharges the water to flush out sediments. After coming back to the hotel, enjoy Holo-Holo. (Lunch / Dinner will be at your own expense.)
NOV. 13 (FRI) KUMAMOTO / HANEDA / HONOLULU,
At checkout time our agent will come to tape and tie-up the boxes and take the baggage to be checked-in down. In the afternoon proceed to Kumamoto Airport to catch a domestic flight to Haneda International airport. Upon arrival, transfer to international terminal to catch an International flight in the evening to Honolulu. Arrive in Honolulu the same morning, on Nov. 13 (Friday). After clearing U.S. Customs, proceed home. (Lunch / Dinner will be at your own expense.)
